Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir dan Batin

Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir dan Batin

Hari Raya is just a few days away which mean the balik kampung exodus will begin probably as early as today. This year Hari Raya clashes with Merdeka Day and Malaysians; Muslim and non-Muslim alike are welcoming the week long holidays with anticipation.

What are your plans? I’ll probably chill at home and sneak in some shopping spree but the boyfriend will be working the entire public holidays. Never mind, that means extra moolahs for shopping haha. I’m joking. He bestowed upon me the responsibility of planning a road trip for after Raya. I’ll have to remember to do that.

You know i’m really missing homemade kuih raya and cookies and rendangs and ketupats and all the other gastronomic food associated with Hari Raya. That’s the disadvantage of not having a regular 9 to 5 job. Gone are the days when you get to sample all the mouthwatering food brought to office by the Malay colleagues. Darn i miss the homemade pineapple tart they use to sell at HLB during raya.

Any kind soul willing to satisfy my rendang and lemang craving?

To everyone out there “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Happy Merdeka Day and Happy Holidays!”.

Oh, do drive safely and look out for speed traps!

Shopping Goodies from Bali

Woot! I’m back from Bali. It was good fun but i had not expected the price of stuff there to be similar to Malaysia.

We arrive there millionaires (in rupiah of course) but came back a pauper LOL. Didn’t even have enough money to get a decent McD meal at the airport fml, so we had to resort to instant noodle on board the plane which thank god could be paid with Malaysian ringgit.

Right now i’m composing the many photos we took with the borrowed DSLR. Yes, we borrowed the camera from the boyfriend’s boss one day before we left for Bali. We were being so smug and so sure of ourselves that we didn’t even practice or tinkered with the camera settings. So being DSLR virgins and all, most of the photos ended up blurry or off angle hahaha!

I have to admit that DSLR is really handy. It snaps photos really quick and the detail it captures is awesome. I’m beginning to understand why people prefer it to normal digital camera. However, i’m not going to jump on the bandwagon and get myself a DSLR because it’s kind of a pain to carry around something so bulky all the time.

But i’m definitely going to miss it come this Monday when we return the camera and i’m back to taking dull photos with my digi cam :(

So as i was saying, the things in Bali aren’t as cheap as i thought it would be and there wasn’t lots of variety in Kuta. Every stall is selling the same stuff which didn’t appeal to us. Ubud was better because there were more choices and the prices are definitely lower.

There were loads of crafts selling at the Ubud market. I liked the rattan baskets a lot but decided not to get them because they were huge and i haven’t got the slightest idea what to do with them when we get them back to Malaysia. I’ll fly to Bali to get the baskets and other wooden decorative for the future house next time :)

I got this instead in a shop in Kuta area. To keep my earrings :).

It’s really funny that we went all the way to Bali thinking of getting some nice and cheap stuff but we ended up shopping at Discovery Mall which is equivalent with the malls we have at home.

Here’s the merchandises i bought for myself which i absolutely adore.

I just realize from looking at this photo that they are color coordinated!

The “He Just Farted” t-shirt is like so cute. I heart!

It’s now my favorite top. The back of the t-shirt says “Smell it?” Hahahaha. Poor boyfriend, people keep pointing and laughing at him in public now LOL.

Yeah, and i finally bought a Coach bag!!! Well, technically the boyfriend paid for it – it’s a birthday gift and i’m loving it.

Of all the places i succumbed to my obsession at the Denpasar airport. I couldn’t help it once i saw the rose pink design.

It’s about RM200 less than retail price in KL so that makes me feel less guilty :(.

But now we are staying home on weekends and trying to spend less to cover our bills and make up for splurging on our future-home-fund… and start thinking about the next trip to somewhere LOL.

Shopping with Mom

Sis is on a 2 weeks leave from work so yippiee. This means we could take a break for shopping. It’s the festive season after all and the clothes they have on display during CNY is really hideous so it’ll be smart to shop early.

Unfortunately mom had it all planned out. Woke us up so early in the morning, i half knocked myself out on the bedroom door. She insisted that we help her get YTL vouchers from the annual shareholder meeting again. So well alright, we were free and the vouchers are worth losing our few minutes of extra sleep.

After elbowing all the old people in the hotel ballroom we got out with 1k worth of dining vouchers. Nice work, pat our back.

Mom said i look good in the Forever 21 hat, so i insisted she tried it on and we took a pic :)

We head on to Pavilion after that.

It’s been a while since we went shopping with mom. I can’t remember the last time i went shopping with her. I think it was before i got into college when i start buying my own clothes and hang out with my friends then after that i started to work meaning even less shopping time with mom.

I kind of miss picking out clothes with mom… even though she disagree with half of my selections. LOL.

I find it rather amusing that my sis and mom kept disagreeing on the skirt or top in the shop. Sis was really frustrated and fuming. Kind of reminds me of me when i was young.

Someday sis will understand. Mom is just opinionated and “kan cheong”. It comes with age. So be patient.

It was fun (well for me anyways).

Look here’s my mom’s attempt to take a picture of sis and i. Fail! LOL.

Shoppers Alert

This is wonderful news to shopaholics everywhere. There’s a new haunt in town!

Well, not so much of a physical place to shop but an online shop where you can purchase almost everything you need nevertheless.

ShopWiki lets you shop in the comfort of your own home. It’s a revolutionary experience because ShopWiki acts similar to Google search where it crawls every store on the internet to bring to you the latest and most fabulous products. There’s no hidden fee for the search and there’s no hidden fees for any purchase. ShopWiki lets you visit every store available online regardless of the merchants and brands. It’s the most comprehensive shopping site available.

Just the other day i saw these couple playing Frisbee with their adorable retriever and i wanted to get one for my dog. I searched high and low for a shop that sells Frisbee for dogs but couldn’t find one. But guess what? I found it on ShopWiki. There are normal Frisbees on sale for children and adults to play too. I am seriously considering getting one. It’ll be good exercise.

You’ll be surprise at the many variety of sports products that’s available on ShopWiki. There are stuff for adults such as golf and tennis equipments and for kids there are basketball essentials, snowboards and even inline skates. It’s like heaven for sports fanatics. The list goes on and on and let me remind you that’s only for sports. Imagine what more is available via ShopWiki.

Time to shop!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Gosh it’s been a while since i visited this page. It’s been such an awful busy week. With Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year just days apart the people in my house is obsessed with cleaning. It’s a wonder how much rubbish and junk one could collect over the period of one year. I threw 3 big bag of junk from my room itself!

Christmas was nothing special. It’s getting more mundane each year. There’s even less festivity this year with the Christmas sales starting late and with nothing much to watch on the tele. I miss watching Christmas specials on tv. The malls was packed with people as usual but i noticed that they were minus the many bags of shopping goodies. Must be the recession huh?

Anyways, i didn’t manage to visit all the malls to snap the pics of their Christmas decor. However, from the malls that i DID managed to go and from the pics from other blogs, the Curve stills wins the show. If there were ever a competition of the best Christmas decor, the Curve will wins hands down :)

Retail Therapy

Now i know what is called retail therapy.

Erm… well kind off. Other species of females buy clothes and stuffs to make them look pretty and nice, i on the other hand buy food. Oh well, it’s super depressing to go shopping with the intention of releasing stress only to end up more depressed since i am too fat to fit into any thing nice right now. So what do i do? Stomped into Mark & Spencer and splurged on food *wakaka!

I’m so gonna get fatter

And on the way back i bought a Liz Claiborne wallet too! So happy you know coz i’ve been looking for this particular wallet for so long. I found the same design but with different material. I hate PVC. This is fabric. Some more it was such a steal really. Only RM99.00. Yeah, baby!

Nice or not???? Say it’s nice ok?!

Tomorrow i’m going to a new salon for facial. For the record, MissyKarWai recommended this place, so if it’s not good and i end up in hives i’m going to kill her.

Good Night.

McKinney Dickens Festival

The downside of living in the city during Christmas is you don’t get to attend old fashioned Christmas festivals such as the McKinney Dickens festival in Texas.

The downtown McKinney’s premier festival is a joyous festival complete with Victorian atmosphere where there are horse drawn carriages, strolling carolers, Santa Claus and Christmas tree lighting. But most important of all is that the festival has a snow tubing hill. Isn’t it great?! I love snow tubing! It’s exhilarating! It’s an excellent activity for the family but i must warn you to be careful because it might get really bumpy down the hill. Hold on tight!

Anyways, there will be all kind of fun activities for all ages. There will be wonderful restaurants and shops around for everyone too enjoy during the holiday season. During December, the opening hours of the shops in McKinney will also be extended. Customers could take this opportunity to finish up the Christmas shopping at the many bookstores, boutiques, galleries and gifts shops around the town. Who knows what great gifts you might be able to find for your loved ones.

McKinney Dickens starts on the 28th November as a kick start to Christmas in December. Don’t miss the good food and old charm of the Dicken’s era!
