Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir dan Batin

Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir dan Batin

Hari Raya is just a few days away which mean the balik kampung exodus will begin probably as early as today. This year Hari Raya clashes with Merdeka Day and Malaysians; Muslim and non-Muslim alike are welcoming the week long holidays with anticipation.

What are your plans? I’ll probably chill at home and sneak in some shopping spree but the boyfriend will be working the entire public holidays. Never mind, that means extra moolahs for shopping haha. I’m joking. He bestowed upon me the responsibility of planning a road trip for after Raya. I’ll have to remember to do that.

You know i’m really missing homemade kuih raya and cookies and rendangs and ketupats and all the other gastronomic food associated with Hari Raya. That’s the disadvantage of not having a regular 9 to 5 job. Gone are the days when you get to sample all the mouthwatering food brought to office by the Malay colleagues. Darn i miss the homemade pineapple tart they use to sell at HLB during raya.

Any kind soul willing to satisfy my rendang and lemang craving?

To everyone out there “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Happy Merdeka Day and Happy Holidays!”.

Oh, do drive safely and look out for speed traps!

Happy Merdeka

Let no one accuse me of being unpatriotic la. So Happy Merdeka everyone (opps it’s already 12.20… i’m going to edit the publishing time so it would look as if i was waiting impatiently by the clock like a loyal Malaysian).

Here’s some fireworks in conjunction of the national day.

LOL a new shop opened near the condo a few days ago i think. Well i’m not sure if it’s legal to have fireworks for a pub opening but there you go. Malaysia Boleh!

Happy 51st Merdeka

I’m too lazy and busy to update. I missed my blog’s birthday which was yesterday too. *don’t worry blog, i will make it up with a long, long shitty post next week haha.

And just in case, i wish all Malaysians a Happy 51st Merdeka Day in advance.

I wonder if it still means anything besides the fact that’s it’s another excuse to celebrate, party and another meaningless holiday.

As opposed to last year’s National Day where i had Thai food, this time around i think i’m gonna have Japanese or Korean food. I am so patriotic, Pak Lah should hang me upside down with the national flag wrapped around my head.

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Chiang Rai Style Thai Food Restaurant is located in Aman Puri, Kepong. It’s very easy to find once you’re in that area. A small shop just opposite the King’s Confectionary at Jalan Desa 1/3, right next to the big Old Town White Coffee.

It’s not like those expensive posh looking restaurant like Bangkok Jam or Just Thai. A small shop and look kinda old.

Food was yummy-licious! We ordered 2 dishes. The tom yam soup with chicken and sautéed pork with cashew nuts. Served with rice, of course. Both dishes were quite good and come in moderate proportion.

I love the tom yam! Not too spicy or sour. Just right! The sautéed pork was quite good but bit too hard. *sorry no pics coz i didn’t bring my camera… *whacks head again… With drinks, (Chinesetea) it only cost us MYR22.50 :)

I think can just fit in bout 25 or so patrons at one time. Worth a visit if you don’t mind waiting long for your food to be served (we had to wait for bout 30mins!). There were only 3 floor staffs when we were there preparing drinks, taking order, serving, etc… -_-”

Good thing is the Myanmar staffs speaks excellent Cantonese!

Happy Merdeka Malaysia!
