Batman at Premier and X-Files Losers

Overheard at Kepong Baru’s pasar malam.

Stranger: What’s new?
DVD seller: This one lar. Dark Knight. Batman is acting in it.

dark night feat. batman
The Dark Knight feat. Bruce, Batman

LOL. Does the seller really think Batman exist? Can’t help imagining Batman at the premier instead of hot Christian Bale. LOL

Choosing to watch the latest X-Files movie instead of the Dark Knight was a huge. I should have guessed judging by the poor sales of X-Files ticket. The cinema wasn’t even half full.

X-Files: I Want To Believe made the FBI look like sissy idiots and made agent Scully and Mulder look like losers. The film was so draggy and boring i almost slept through the show. Disappointment. Dang.

Puppy Business

The puppy business is really bugging me… like alot.

We’ve taken step 2) b) but it’s not turning out well. The doctor called me up this afternoon to inform me that the puppy’s condition isn’t too optimistic. The X-ray reveals that both the pup’s hind legs are injured. One is pretty easy to fix with a small surgery and another is dislocated so it’s a bit complicated. That’ll cost almost RM1000 (X-ray + surgeries on both leg) but it doesn’t guarantee complete healing.

Now i’m back to step 1 which is choose euthanasia (put her to sleep) or send her in for surgery.

Some readers had brought up the issue of SPCA. The reason i did not send her straight to SPCA is because SPCA is already so full with strays and both you and me knows that the chance of the pup getting adopted after she healed is very slim. Initially i was hoping to mend her and find a good home for her.

The vet (the only vet open at that late hour yesterday) isn’t too keen on keeping her either. Actually i regret bringing her to that particular vet (i’m not going to mention which) in Kepong. It’s so expensive but the doctor and the staff are like robots. All they care is to make a few extra bucks off of you. We had to deposit RM200 just to keep her there for a night. Imagine that!

I wish i had taken a photo of the poor pup so i could share it here. She’s so pretty and pitiful. Sigh…

A Quick One At Restaurant Niji Sushi

Welcome to the establishment with the most ‘efficient’ staffs of the year.

Sudden craving for Japanese food brought us here, a newly opened outlet in Bandar Manjalara. It’s actually the second outlet in Manjalara area.

Welcome to the land of the hunted

Food was just so-so. The presentation left much to be desired.

beef
Beef whatchamacallit??

If there’s any place where staffs could be too over ‘efficient’, it’s gotta be here. All the time i was sitting there, i felt like i was watched. Why? Well, i had 2 sips of hot green tea and all of a sudden the waitress was next to me re-filling my still full cup. I had another 2 sips and there she was again re-filling for me… and again and again… geez…

After the food arrived, i tried to take some photos with my Lumix but i felt like the staffs were hawk-ing me. So i just took some quick pathetic shots. Noticed that the photos are so blur and the angle taken are kinda so unprofessional?

While we were shoving the last spoon of rice into our mouth, the waitress was already on stand-by mode to clear our table. Uhm… ok. Let her take the dishes away…

Then when we each picked our temaki roll, she took away our plates. We were left holding the rolls with no plates on the table. I was dumbstrucked by her idiocy. *made us feel so stupid. Tsk tsk…

Anyway, I didn’t bother to memorize the name of the beef + rice tepanyaki dish coz i was so stumped by the ‘efficiency’ of the staffs there. Let’s just call it ‘beef whatchamacallit’. Plus i thought i could grab the receipt on the way out coz it might have the name on it but well, the highly ‘efficient’ staff pulled away the tab before i manage to take it. Uhm… i didn’t bother to ask for it from him again.

Approximately:-
Beef Whatchamacallit – RM20.00
Salmon Skin Temaki – RM4.00
Soft Shell Crab Temaki – RM4.00
2 green tea – RM3.50

Chow Down @ Restoran Krua Thai

There are few reasons why i particularly like to visit small Thai restaurants/outlets anywhere i could find but in shopping malls. One of them is that these restaurants tends to have more authentic Thai food with heavier taste and aroma.

I love South East Asia food. Thai food being my fav after Vietnam food.

We were searching for some this evening and bumped into this recently opened restaurant in Kepong. Located just behind Carefour and near Metro Prima along the stretch of countless shops and dining outlets.

Restaurant Krua Thai – bad pic.

Besides the hideous painted wall behind, the place was not bad. Fairly spacious. Good service. Most of the staff speaks Thai and understands little English so i presumed that the owner is a Thai.

Look at the ugly wall behind…aiyo

The menu was extensive. Many many selections but we ordered only the tomyam chicken and chicken in pandan leaves *having a small stomache sux! It turned out to be quite a large porportion for the two of us :).

Menu with so many choices…flip behind for more!

tomyam
Hungry!!! Gimme gimme gimme!

Uhm… the serving of rice wasn’t much. Don’t be fooled by my photo. The bowl is super small. I think a regular guy will have to order about 3 servings of rice.

rice
Big? No no. Small!

The tomyam soup was extremely sour *yummy!

I had never ate so much chicken at once in my life. Six pieces of the chicken in pandan leaves and damn alot of chicken in the tomyam soup. I repeat ‘damn alot’.

tomyamchicken
Omg! Chicken fest

Speaking of ‘damn alot’, the coconut meat was really thick. Thailand have great coconuts… *err somehow that doesn’t sounds right… Anyway, i spent about 20 mins scooping out the meat.

We spent:
Tomyam Chicken – RM20.00
Chicken in Pandan Leaves – RM10.00
Coconut – RM3.50
Rice – RM3.00
Chinese Tea – RM0.50
