Final Week on Oratane

Final Week on Oratane

For the record, this is how i look like in December 2010 :).

I am loving this hair length but my hair stylist is very stubborn and he had very super stubbornly insisted that i do something different to my hair each time i pay him a visit. So, i’m letting it grow long again. Not something i really like but it’ll make him happy for a while LOL.

So have you noticed how my skin has improved since i have been taking oratane?

Well, i certainly have. This is my 5th month and my final month of taking the acne pills (i’m on my last pack) and my skin is totally cleared of pimples and white heads; i’m feeling fabulous! My face is not greasy anymore, the pores are less visible and most importantly there’s no trace of acne.

Yay! My scars is healing fast too so now there’s only a tiny bit of red spots visible when i get warm under the hot weather. The lips are still dry and occasionally cracked, a bearable side effect. It’s getting better though with lots of lip balm.

So, it’s 2 more weeks till i pay the skin doctor another visit. Hopefully i do not have to continue taking the pills anymore but more important i pray hard that acne episode would not relapse if i do go off the pills in the future.

In case you want to read about my progress, here you go:

Signing off now! Till my next Oratane report. Tata! LOL!

Normaderm Night Chrono-Action Anti-Imperfection Care

Vichy Normaderm range is a popular choice for acne skin. I’ve heard quite a handful of people singing praises for this brand of products that had supposed to improve acne prone skin tremendously.

In fact i’ve bought 2 products from this range a while back before i decided to go on acne medication (oratane) to tackle my skin problem; one is the Normaderm Night Chrono-Action Anti-imperfection Care (What a mouthful huh?!) which retailed at RM98 at that time.

It’s a little confusing; the name of the product i mean. It also goes by the name “Night Chrono-Active Pore Refining Care” or “Normaderm Night Chrono-Active Anti-Imperfection Care”. All names refer to the same product.

What’s for sure is this product is designed to eliminate shine, reduce pore size while keep the face hydrated. To be used at night on cleansed skin, the Pore-Targeting Technology and Zincadone A™ tighten pores and refine skin texture. It’s also non-comedogenic and allergy tested.

The creamy texture is whitish and light. Not at all oily. Once applied on the face, the skin immediately feels smooth and pores are less visible. My skin also feels less oily the next morning when i woke up. I was rather impressed with it.

Unfortunately after 2 weeks of using the cream i saw only a slight improvement on my pores. My skin is still oily but is a definitely less compared to before but i still have breakouts. After the first tube, i stopped using it which then my pores becomes visible again like before.

Maybe i’m being biased after hearing so many great praises of the product. I had my hopes up high; i expected the product to be stronger.

Oratane Side Effects

Oratane Side Effects

I’m on the 6th weeks of using Oratane. So far, so good. I’m very happy!

On the 4th week, my skin had already shown great improvement. I’m hoping by the end of the 8th week, my skin would be rid of whiteheads completely.

I’m surprised that quite a few people had asked me about my progress and whether i have any adverse effect of using Oratane. I guess there are lots of people who are in the same depressing situation.

Right now, i’m suffering from some side effects from taking the acne pills. For one, my lips had become extremely dry. Even though i had already expected it because my dermatologist had warned me about dry lips, it’s really a pain in the ass.

Since last week, my lips are cracked and chapped. Using the wrong lip balm makes it worst; it’s become a little swollen too. Now i’m using Vaseline Lip Essence that works great and of course drinking lots of water. In time, it’s more manageable.

My eyes are a little dry too. I can’t wear contact lenses for too long at a time. But it’s worth it for a better skin right?

For people with the same skin problem, i hear you and don’t give up!

Oratane Session

Oratane Session

My dermatologist prescribed Oratane to treat my acne prone face.

I’m just 3 weeks into the pills (btw i’m taking 10mg per day) and i’m already seeing improvement. I cannot describe how relieve and happy i am with the result. I guess only those suffering from acne problem will understand what i’m feeling right now.

I’ve been battling acne for almost 3 years now. You know, i used to have really great glowing skin but at one time my face started to have whiteheads all over and pimples started coming out. I think it was because of the facials i have been having.

Taught me to appreciate my skin more than ever; i didn’t need facial in the first place!

Here’s from year 2008.

acne-before

Here’s 2009 after using Dermalite and taking antibiotics from the clinic. Eventually my skin started to get immune with Dermalite products so i stopped using it.

2010 after stop taking antibiotics – whiteheads started popping up again. My skin was so oily i could scrap it off and cook with it! You could probable see the large pores in the pic too.

2010 after 3 weeks of Oratane. Pores became smaller, skin less oily, i can wear makeup without it becoming flaky, less whiteheads, no pimples at all.

Doc wants me to take Oratane for 20 weeks, that’s about 5 months which i’m determined to continue till the end. I’m not risking of a relapse episode this time.

I can’t describe the terrible feeling of having ugly skin. It’s like having your confidence level stomped on and thrown into the sea. It’s depressing and it affects your life the way you cannot imagine it will. It’s just really sad.

And having my skin improved like this makes the side effects like dry skin, lips and nostrils, hair and hunger pangs somewhat bearable.

I’m looking forward to share my success story in months to come. Fingers cross people!

Hada Labo AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash

As promised here is the review of Hada Labo products that i have personally tested.

But before i start (and before you start reading :) ), please check out my skin analysis for a better comparison.

I have been using the Hada Labo AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash for almost 2 weeks now. I love that the face wash foam really well so it just takes very small dollop to work the whole face; rather economical.

As i have sensitive skin, it’s great that the it doesn’t contain small beads (like normal scrubs does) which tends to be too harsh on my skin.

Also, the product is unscented and does not contains unnecessary additives, colourant, fragrance and mineral oil yet it clean pores thoroughly and polishes the skin from dead skin cells with it’s AHA and BHA ingredients.

That did it for me, the minute i read about that i went and grab myself the promo pack. Haha.

Day 1: My face felt very smooth and soft after using the facial wash cum exfoliator. I was very happy that it didn’t leave my skin feeling raw and red. My acne did not flare up either.

Day 2: Woke up with face feeling soft. No trace of new pimple or allergy.

Day 3: Skip using it.

Day 4: Skip using it.

Day 5: Felt great on the skin and skin is once again smooth and soft.

Day 6: No allergies or any negative effects.

Day 7: Skin was slightly red and noticed a few white heads on the acne area.

Conclusion:

Frankly, i love Hada Labo AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash because it really works great. It really polishes the skin and my skin never felt so soft before. But i guess that it’s rather too strong for me to be using it on a daily basis because of the (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) and BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) substance.

I have been using it day and night for the last 3 consecutive days of the first week and my skin was sensitive towards it. So, i tried alternating it, using it only 2 or 3 times in the next week and my skin felt great again. No redness and not side effect.

And i’m happy with the product again :)!

I’m Allergic To Everything

It seems i’ve developed another benign allergy. That’s not surprising as much as frustrating because as i get older, my stupid immune system seems to think it’s fun playing cruel jokes on me. But it’s getting ridiculous even by my weak standard ok.

1) Banana Boat sunblock ->> After deciding to jog again (partly for health reason, mostly to be drop-dead-slimmed-down gorgeous), i bought sunblock so i won’t have skin cancer from over-exposure to the sun. But i get these red spots all over the area after application. The only consolation is that it doesn’t itch. Who the hell get’s allergic to Banana Boat product for gods sake?!!! Oh, i forgot. Me.

2) Dust ->> I found out about this one when my former cheapskate employer decided to renovate the office but didn’t bother to relocate us. So we were rather unhappily sitting right in front of the renovation site, sneezing our nose off. Don’t get me wrong. We loved it because for the next couple of weeks we were happily celebrating by taking turn for MC. Then the celebration was over because i was the only one getting really sick and had rashes all over my body which didn’t heal for the next few months. Wtf.

3) EPI Products ->> Remember i told you about the moronic beautician who destroyed my face? Well she pushed me into purchasing almost RM1k worth of product which after as it turned out that i was allergic to. She of course vehemently denies it but i stopped using the products and my acne problem got better and my scars healed. My new beautician says i’m allergic to some kind of enzyme in that brand of products and i trust her. There, the stupid product brand is EPI. I’m glad i got that out of my system. My suggestion to new user of that brand, thread water carefully, test it at least for 3 months before purchasing.

4) Salicylic Acid ->> All of a sudden, i’m allergic to products containing Salicylic Acid meaning mostly ALL acne products. Which sux because i have acne and i need that ingredient to control the sebum on my face. But i can’t use it because my lips would start to chap and blister and burn if comes to contact with that particular ingredient no matter how minimal it is. So F*ck Salicylic Acid. I’m going to commission a professor to create an elixir for acne… yes, right after i hit jackpot.

5) Haze ->> It’s a sign that i must migrate from this evil land as soon as possible before i die a horrible death coz we know very well the haze won’t go away. Doc says that my nose and throat is a little inflamed but i suspect he is subtly telling me “Haze bad. Kill you. Painful death. Get out. Now!”… I think the haze is making me paranoid. Hey doc, i need more medication.

6) Origins Perfect World for Eye ->> Oh, this is a new one. I just bought the eye cream last week and after applying the cream around my eye area, my eyes puffed up and kept on getting watery like i was slicing onion or something. All the while i thought it was because of my insomnia and haze allergy but no, it was the eye cream. It’s so ridiculous because i never heard of anyone getting allergic to this particular product. Why does shit always happens to me. Oh goody what fun.

Somebody please kill me. Uhm… Preferably not with a knife coz you know… uhm… i might develop an allergy to stainless steel too. I don’t want to die with a face and body full of disgusting rashes. Please let me be beautiful when i die.

Maybe you can stab me with a chopstick, less risk there.

Right now i’m on my clear skin mission. (See the word “clear skin mission” on the wall? ) Getting my acne cleared with a new facial centre and new products which cost a bomb. Wtf. I think soon i’ll have to survive on dog food. Double wtf.

I’ll try to get the before and after photos when i look like a Korean startlet *muahaha!

I really should have stop using Cellnique products before my skin got worst like now. Wtf.

If you haven’t notice, i’ve overlapped the article with a smiley face on the “Cool and Confident Chick” article. The girl damn aunty ok. I only wanted the article but it look damn cacat if i cut off the picture of the aunty. So i sticked the smiley face on top instead. :)

Right now, i’m preparing to get some shut eye. But not before i tilt my head up to see the smiley face and giggle like a mad hatter. (What?! I think it’s funny cannot meh??).
