A new addition to the family.
This is Buster the Robotic Auto Vacuum Cleaner. We christened it Buster; short for dust buster LOL.
I’ve been longing for a robotic vacuum cleaner since i’ve laid eyes on one at the home improvement shop but it was rather over-priced. At RM2k++ i could easily get at least 4 conventional vacuum cleaners which does the same job if not better.
But i was tempted all the same. Who wouldn’t want to sit and relax while your pet robot clean the house for you right?
Recently my dream came true.
The boyfriend’s mom bought a Sugawa Intelligent Robotic Auto Vacuum Cleaner but her apartment was too small so now it’s ours!
I’m not sure but i think Sugawa is a local brand but the cleaner works the same as other robotic vacuum cleaner. It runs automatically or manually. If you want to maneuver it to clean certain spots in the house there is a remote control for that purpose. It also has a docking platform for it to recharge and of course you can program it to automatically park itself on the dock after it’s done cleaning.

The downside however is the robotic vacuum tends to do its job rather slowly and if you have small living quarters it’s not the ideal vacuum because it has limited space to maneuver and it will keep bumping into your furniture. It also runs only on flat, hard surfaces, for example it got stuck when trying to enter into our kitchen since the tiling is slightly elevated or when it mounts on a carpet or rug it’ll get stuck too.
This particular brand of cleaner also does not come with a memory system to calculate the room size. It’s like a dummy every time i turn it on; bumping into furniture and missing some spots.
Robotic vacuum cleaner is great for normal everyday cleaning to safe time but the motor isn’t too strong so if you are a neat freak you should be warned that it doesn’t suck up dust too effectively. Also it’s useless when it comes to house corners.
I have not used any other brand of auto vacuum cleaner so i really couldn’t compare but this one have a problem when i try to dock it on the charging platform. Apparently the sensor is not strong enough – the vacuum could only detect the dock if it’s right in front of it within perhaps a foot away.
I’ve bought a new conventional vacuum cleaner since. Buster is currently hibernating, only put in action when there’s small spill in the living room.
