Ooohhh i’m a bit late. Just watched this yesterday and it rendered me speechless. This looks like a ready full-fledged rehearsal for National Day parade or maybe the Olympics… only in extremely bad taste LOL!
Seems like the staffs really worship Tan Sri Teh… er i mean Public Bank. But hey i don’t blame them, if i were the receiving end of huge bonuses i’ll kneel down on my knees too.
The organizers should be permanently banned from handling anymore events in the future though. Come on, cosplay and spaceship and 4WD?!! Over the top tasteless!
If i recall correctly the last time i felt so excited was back in 2008. It was the first time exercising my voting rights as a Malaysian citizen and i remember feeling ecstatic whilst we were walking towards the poling centre in Kepong. In every way i was eager because i felt so grown up and it was like i had superpowers to determine who eventually would run the country. Ok i was what? 26 back then? Legally an adult aka a grown up but i’m forever young, so in my case age really doesn’t count. I even got my lucky number 6 voting booth which sealed the fact that i’m without a doubt genetically invincible.
With great joy and anticipation i attacked the weak with my mind-controlling ability. Alas, my superpowers might be a little bit stunted back then but the damage was done – the opposition won by a landslide.
With the rumors of the looming General Election, i’m once again preparing in glee. I hope it’s not just a rumor this time; not just because i am feverishly polishing my great powers but because this time i actually care. Before i might be voting because i was pissed and annoyed at the useless campaign surrounding the election and of course because my superpowers were at a stage of puberty in time to be released, this time i’m going to vote because i’m still pissed and annoyed and i want a change in the country.
Don’t laugh, i’m seriously serious.
It irks me to no extreme when i hear about ignorant people who refuses to vote or even to register themselves as voters although they are past their prime. Sitting on the fence is no excuse and it certainly doesn’t help improve the deterioration state of the country. It’s important who you choose to run the country but what’s more important is who not to choose. There are certain group of people (i’ve heard it dozens of times) who’s excuse is that they are not loving Malaysia too much so they do not bother about elections and such. I think what you guys mean is you do not love the Malaysian government too much and if you are not planning to migrate anytime soon, i suggest you do something because you are a citizen and residence of this country and you will still be effected by whatever policies the government comes up with.
These group of ignorant people will suffer from the wrath of my superhuman powers. If you feel a slight tingling sensation in the back of your head do not be alarmed, that will be me channeling telepathy. And if you feel the sudden urge to run to the post office with your I/C in your hands, that will be me successfully reforming your thoughts. There’s no point resisting – like i said i’m invincible.
By the way an acquaintance asked me how to chance the polling district she was registered with. Here’s how, go to the National Registration Department to change the address stated on your identity card to your current address. Head down to the nearest post office with the temporary I/C to change the voting district. I hope you are reading this but if not, i’ll use my ESP powers to make sure you get the details.
Hoping that this time other super-humans would join me for a full force drill.
First it was endless spending on the month of June – early July that resulted in us munching on grass. I have no idea where did all the money go… ok maybe i have some ideas – weddings, hospital bills, clinic bills and vaccination bills, birthdays, car repair bills, etc, etc).
And now we are contemplating whether it is cheaper to eat grass or dirt because this came in the mail yesterday.
Seriously??!! Operasi Pemotongan KKA??!
At first we were dead angry because we stay in a condo and no one is at home all day long except at night and we don’t even turn on the air-conditioner to sleep. And how is it possible for us to tamper with the electric meter when we stay in a condo unit where the meters are centralized? Now we have only until tomorrow before the electricity is cut.
So we went online in search of a solution. Apparently there are plenty of people with the same problem. There are only two solutions – to pay even though we are innocent or to bring the case to court. There are incidents where the victim goes all the way to TNB to demand proof and the employee refused to show him the photo of the tampered meter unless in court.
So the boyfriend went to TNB anyways and put on “Don’t mess with me” face. Fortunately the employee was civilized enough to explain and showed him the photo of the meter. It was indeed tampered with… wtf.
This means it was done by the previous owner/tenant even before the boyfriend moved in. We have no choice but to pay the RM677.96!
Sigh… First it was the few hundreds of Indah Water bill which the previous owner left unpaid. Now this.
A word of advice from us to people buying second hand properties – always ask for the latest utility bills and make sure the previous owner had duly paid everything and check the electric meter to ensure it’s in fit condition.
When you encounter situation like this, always ask for proof. Ask to see a photo of the meter to make sure it’s a genuine case, not a scam.
By the way, digesting grass is much more economical don’t you think? After all, dirt perhaps might upset my stomach and i might end up with more medical bills to pay!
Bersih 2.0 came and went but the spirits of the rakyat lingers on.
I wish i was there standing among the tens of thousands of our people, standing up to what we believed in but regrettably i wasn’t there. I think it was for the better, for if i was there the boyfriend would have to worry about me and constantly taking care of me instead of marching on in gusto with the public.
I’m beaming with pride because the boyfriend had the guts and determination to join the march even when he had to head to the office to do his job first and missed most of the action. As a consolation his “job” did contribute to the cause in some way which i don’t want to risk revealing, so i said to him “It’s ok you did your part already. That’s way better than many, many people”. In the end it doesn’t matter if you were in the thick of the action or not, but it’s whether you showed up and showed your support that matters.
I’m not very politically inclined. Heck i if you asked me which political party is which or which current minister is which, i would most probably scratch my head and give you the wrong answer. But i do know that this is supposed to be a democratic country and we, the people are suppose to have the freedom to voice their beliefs let alone the freedom to have a clean election.
Bersih is about these 8 things:
Clean the electoral roll
Reform postal ballot
Use of indelible ink
Minimum 21 days campaign period
Free and fair access to media
Strengthen public institutions
Stop corruption
Stop dirty politics
It is for these reasons alone i sat in front of my laptop on 9th July, adrenaline pumping, constantly looking for live updates of the rally and cheered on.
Many had misconception towards Bersih 2.0. Sure the oppositions might have hidden agendas but does it really matter? This is a peaceful march and it’s a march to show that the power lies in the rakyat as it should always be in a democratic country. The rally doesn’t support the opposition and doesn’t lean to any political party, it’s just the voice of the public demanding what they deserve, a clean election for the country. I do not see anything wrong in that.
It’s funny when all of these were going on, there are people worrying and complaining which road was blocked so they could head out shopping. Well, perhaps this is not for everybody.
I didn’t know i could be so patriotic in the past… and that many Malaysians especially those working or studying aboard could be so patriotic but right now i could say i love my country a little bit more. It’s very heartwarming to read and listen to other people’s (who participated in Bersih 2.0) account of what they experienced that day. In the midst of havoc – tear gas, water cannon and police/FRU clamping down on the people, most of them had great stories of racial unity to share. It is truly inspiring.
There were people of every race taking care of each other and supporting each other. If this is not 1Malaysia, nothing is. The boyfriend recounted meeting a Malay pakcik and they looked out for each other during the walk and the many people buying mineral water at the convenient store where the owner asked for just RM1 payment because he was a supporter. One of the participant of the walk said “Bayar dulu, bayar dulu. Kita bersih!” and everyone paid. There were no looting, no vandalizing and no arguments. This is what i call a peaceful rally.
Even though the boyfriend was a bit late but in his own words “It was awesome!”. He walked from his office to KLCC but the lrt was shut down so he walked all the way to Masjid Jamek and joins the crowd. From there onward they walked to Dang Wangi and Jalan Ampang and stopped at KLCC. It was pouring by then and standing there with all the people from all types of races and ethnic background, they sang Negaraku. I could only imagine how euphoric it could have been.
I choose not to believe in mainstream media because it was a choice between believing in what they want us to believe in or believing in the actual accounts of the event from family and immediate friends. It is an easy choice to make. I think i might not watch the news on TV ever again after this.
You know i do not know how successful was the demonstration in freeing our electoral roll but i do know one thing, it has awaken the patriotism in many Malaysians. Many who didn’t care if they voted or not in the past GE had actually registered themselves as voters. The next GE is going to be an extremely exciting one.
Here’s an inspiring text i stumbled upon in a blog. This is what democracy is about.
“… we need to understand the roots of a democratic society and how participation by the people actually operate. First of all, the whole idea of voting out a corrupted government (given that the next option may not be entirely better) is mainly to remind the people once more where true power lies: us. For so long, the government has twisted the principles of democracy, deluding people to think that we are to be servile to the government, when it should be the other way round. The hegemony of this very same government has been prolonged too far into our time, when their lies have betrayed the people. An electoral system is to renew in the people the power that they always have on the government. What this means is simple, that no matter what political ideals you hold, the concept of a serving government should never be compromised. And it is currently being compromised at such.
If you feel so strongly against this government, you should vote them out not because you feel that the opposition could do better (indeed maybe they won’t) but that this government has failed. There has been too much false fear among us that we are not permitted to snap the government into knowing where their true position really lie in society. This current government is too comfortable with where they are. A show of defiance is dire to stop them or any impending government from inheriting this deplorable ideal.
You may say that whoever comes to power after would be worse, but again, thats not where absolute power lies. The dichotomy between gov and opp is wholly decided by you, your family, your friends and this vast extension of rakyat. If the future gov ever fails you, lest not you forget that you have the very same power to vote them out. No party should feel like they have won once they ascend to the top. And this is where we come in. For what its worth, any change atm would be for the best.
The people have lost the power for too long, we need to grant us back this. In between the wok and the fire, maybe the truest purpose of democracy lies in the cook. And his tools shall never override him, regardless.” – Ida
If you’re a Malaysian or in fact if you are living in Malaysia and had to deal with customer services from any company in this country (especially the banking sector), then you’ll know be very familiar with the blood boiling process of getting your problem heard let alone solved. I’m hyperventilating even as i recall my recent “battle” with poor service from a particular finance company which i’m not going to mention here just yet.
Having friends who used to work at call centres and customer service departments, it’s hard not to sympathize with the staffs. Most of the time the staff lack even the most basic training. They are expected to handle calls with the little product knowledge and servicing skills that they absorbed watching the seniors at work.
Ah well, that doesn’t stop me from yelling at their incompetency. I’m sorry, but it gets really ridiculous sometimes so if you want to blame, blame your employer.
This kind of sum up what i’ve been through numerous of times dealing with finance company in Malaysia. So darn frustrating can die!
Funny huh? Not so funny when you’re the one calling for help.
Lesson learned from the countless times dealing with banks: When all else fails, threaten them with a letter to BNM. That should get things going.
Ps: They (citibank) called me yesterday afternoon to apologize for my bad experience and waived all the fees. Phew! After more than 4 months finally it’s settled. BNM rox!
Someone please catch this bastard. He should be stoned to death for what he has done. I can’t believe there’s such cold-blooded people out there. I hope karma gets him and his future kids will do the same thing to him as he had done to the poor dog!
And don’t let me bump into the girlfriend if she is indeed the one shooting the vid. I’ll… i’ll… i’ll… god someone will have to restrain me!
Real estate in Kepong is really ridiculously over-priced. You know why? Because it’s the worst area to stay in. It’s old, full of stubborn, irresponsible and intolerant people, it’s infested with foreign workers and most of all lately safety has become an issue. A BIG issue.
To be fair i’m not referring to all area in Kepong because Kepong is a rather wide area but if i were you i’d better do my research thoroughly before purchasing a house here. It had never been a very safe place to stay; with the number of incidents with perverts that i had encountered i think i am somewhat qualified to judge.
First there were peeping toms, then molesters and then there were few incidents with flashers.
Cases of snatching are a common thing here too, in fact my aunt had her bag snatched right in front of my house 3 times in a row and my sister’s handbag was snatched once. I nearly was a victim too. Now don’t let me go on about break-ins because oh i could go on and on. It’s something i hear about often at this area. Even with police patrolling the area on most of the nights, it still happens.
And then there is the drug dealing case at Jalan Chiak Padang, few blocks from my place. Sigh…
Today… well today, i met with a flasher again; this time the pervert was on a motorcycle. Came near me and when i realized he was flinging his private part at me he already zoomed off. I was so stunned that i only managed to shout “orang gila!!” after he was far away but i think he heard me.
Yeah, i’m almost sure he heard me because i think it made him even more excited and even “high”; that twisted pervert came back another round. Fortunately i was already back in my house. F*cking bastard!!
I should have thrown my umbrella at him. Lesson learned too; never appear angry or frustrated at a flasher because they come off high with your reaction. I should have been calmer.
People in Kepong area, be careful and be alert for Malay motorcyclist with a moustache in a red polo t-shirt and black color. Ok, i realize that that a generic description but do be alert.
