Stylish Glass Veranda

Stylish Glass Veranda

There’s a lovely corner house at Jalan Gasing that i have my heart set on ever since i first set eyes on it. Not only is it located at a prime location in Petaling Jaya – on top of a hill, surrounded by lush green trees; the house is very well maintained and modernly designed yet looks very cozy. The owners obviously take pride in taking care of their home.

I wish one day the owner decides to sell it because i’ll be more than glad to take over. But I know that’s a bit far fetch considering they actually do house improvement every once in a while to keep it in a tip top condition. Recently I heard they have started work on a new glass verandah at the patio. I bet it’s a very stylish one too.

You know i have always liked Glass Verandas. It looks great and at the same time, provides shade for a small gathering at the garden. And when it rains, i could actually sit at the patio to read my favorite book. Don’t you just love watching the rain thumping against glass surface? The pitter patter sound of the rain is just so calming.

Garden verandas also provide a shelter when you park your car indoors. With it the car doesn’t have to sit under the hot sun especially under the blazing hot weather in Malaysia. You don’t have to sit in your car and feel like you are sitting in an oven anymore! Plus you know what a nuisance it is when you just wash the car and it suddenly pours. Well, having a verandah meaning there’s no worries.

If you are concerned about the sun, sun awnings are the way to go. It’s perfect for outdoor activities. There’s an option to install a retractable sun awning on top of the glass verandah so it serves for both decorative and practical purposes.

I can’t wait to have a look at my dream home again. Perhaps this weekend i’ll drive through that area and have a look at their new veranda.

Beautiful Outdoor Lights

Beautiful Outdoor Lights

I have a fascination with lights since i could remember. Lights to me are something wonderfully magical. I used to stare directly at lights wherever i go until I realized that it’s the big factor why I am wearing glasses now!

Anyways don’t you find lighting fixtures beautiful?

I’m always amazed to discover new designs especially outdoor wall lightings. Some of them are really exquisite and certainly adds to the character of a home.

I prefer simpler design like this one which is called Sea Gull Lighting Ardsley Court One Light Fluorescent Outdoor Lantern in Textured Rust Patina Finish for its minimalist feel and i love the rust patina finish that gives it an aged feel.

The boyfriend on the other hand likes outdoor lights that are more masculine like the Elk Lighting Maritime Collection 1 Light Outdoor Wall Light With A Hazlenut Bronze Finish. He says it looks very vintage and very military.

Which design do you like?

Living Wall

Living Wall

Aren’t these the most gorgeous thing you’ve ever seen?

I accidentally watched this particular episode of Martha Stewart (accidentally because i don’t usually watch her show, she’s so robotic) and i fell in love with this concept of “living wall” or green wall as it is also known.

Isn’t it the prettiest thing ever??!! Gosh, i can’t stop gushing about it, it’s so beautiful!

There’s a section of the episode where Scott Hutcheon the landscaping guru teaches us how to build this but i can’t find it online. Doesn’t matter coz it’s fairly simple.

I love the Kirei board frame and the hidden hinges on top and bottom of the frame were you can open it up to install the irrigation tray on top and the  water drainer at the bottom. That’s like really cool.

The plants there in the Martha Stewart show are supposed to purify the air too. I love the big petal ones although i don’t know what type are those. I think i heard the guru said it’s a “petiveria” or something. I shall make it my life mission to hunt for that plant. LOL.

I wonder how much it’s going to cost for me to plant so many types of plants on the 20″x20″ panel. I really want this in my future house.

I’m already envisioning it hanging at multiple places within the house! But, i like it best at the dining room where i can enjoy my meal while watching it grow… well technically anyways.

My only concern is will it grow so huge and long that it would eventually droop down… then i would probably have to trim it all the time huh?

Geez, i’m becoming a domestic goddess, i am.

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home

Last night the boyfriend and i had our very first serious chat about our future new home.

We’ve been wanting to get a new place since forever… ok the word forever refers to me rather than him but the point is we never actually got down and discuss about what we liked or disliked and more important of all what are the no-no/prohibited stuff that god knows should not be seen in the house.

For example square shaped bathroom basin. Don’t ask me why but i have a very strong feeling about this. I just can’t have square shaped basin. And that’s not the only thing i feel strongly about.

There’s also the thing with mirrors. I have a habit of avoiding mirrors at night – it’s creepy. So there shouldn’t be mirrors in the house except for the bathroom and inside the wardrobe.

And, and bathroom curtains. I am totally disgusted with bathroom curtains so i shall have a glass divider in the bathroom instead.

There are loads of other weird OCD stuff that we discussed. It was a pleasant surprise to find out how much the boyfriend and i have in common and how similar our thoughts were regarding the new house even though we never discussed this up till last night.

Indian Corn

Indian Corn

I was going to post photos of the boyfriend looking super silly holding a bottle of red wine, pretending to be drunk but he said he need to see it first before approving. As if anyone don’t know he’s a clown.

Worried about what the boss will say is it? No worries lar, they are all alcoholics anyways hahahahaha!

So now i have to settle posting about boring Indian Corns. Ok, not so boring when i saw it on the shelve next to the papayas in Cold Storage. I was like wow-ed. I’ve never seen Indian Corn before and it’s so pretty, almost more like colorful beads than edible corn. It’s really hard too, i can’t imagine how it would taste like.

Anyways, like i said i was like extremely excited to see the corn. And now… it’s not so exciting anymore because… well, a post about corn is like so boring… and lame. Ok, someday i will have to get it into my head that i am super lame and i have to except that.

Nevermind, so these Indian Corn is more like home decor stuff that food. I can totally imagine how good it’ll look in the house. Maybe on a wooden bowl on the coffee table or something.

Christmas is coming soon too. Here’s an idea :)

Looks good right?

Another idea to be jotted down in the “Ideas for Future New Home” notebook.

Home Sweet Home

Mr. Bf is living in a condo but i don’t really like condos. It’s very confined and it’s difficult to clean. He’s at the 4th story but you can’t imagine the dust it accumulates just after one day of cleaning. The higher you stay the dustier it gets. So i demanded that the main window to be closed at all times else i’m not stepping into the house.

The unit doesn’t look like the home i dreamed about but a little better looking than a rented unit. We’ve decided not to renovate it or furnish it properly because i… er i mean we really want a landed property in the future… if we get married. Ok, laugh at me coz i am thinking about getting married -_-”.

Back to the topic, so now the house is like with cheap marble floors that tends to accumulate dirt and hair seems to be everywhere and i have dust allergy which sux. Cheap tiles are really the worst. It’s hard to clean. The kitchen looks like there’s a chemistry project gone wrong in there. Sigh…

I wonder when can we get a new place so he can sell this condo lot off. I already have all the rooms planed especially the library. There will be a tiny DIY workshop for Mr. Bf, separate work rooms for us both (ok, we are weird and like our privacy very well), a master bedroom, and a library. Part of the kitchen will have a glass ceiling for enough sunlight. I have the colors and furniture and deco all drawn in my head. We need to earn more. Sigh…

I Have a Dream

Inspired by Steven’s visualisation of the the Cove. This is my dream home. Zenia 2 story Garden Condo in Desa Park City. I’m not sure how much it cost now but it was around RM 671,600 – 1,281,100 in 2007. It’s crazy i know but “i have a dream”.

zenia

I love condos because it’s convenient but i’ve always wanted a landed property of my own. This Garden Condo is not exactly a condo but more like a 3 story apartment.

zenia2

Very airy and wide courtyard.

zenia3

Beautiful right?

zenia5

It’s modern yet cozy. I love it because i don’t really like really big houses. This is just the right size and a very functional use of space.

zenia4

If i miraculously own this house, then my parents would have one in Ridgewood. I’m not greedy :P

Now i’m off to play jackpot…
