Oh Look it’s Ms. Paltrow

Never liked Gwyneth Paltrow.

Always thought she was just this forgettable, boring, flat-chested blond actress that appears in movies i don’t really watch… ok, i’m just being downright nasty but really, i can’t remember any movies she had acted in except Shakespeare in Love which i thought was just ok.

But then she went and developed a chic fashion sense, married the coolest guy on earth aka Chris Martin from Coldplay, had gorgeous babies and still looks gorgeous, in fact she is hotter than she ever been AND appeared in the coolest movie on earth aka Ironman (ok not the coolest but close).

Among other talents, i learned that she is multilingual and recently i only discovered she can sing! Like really sing! She’s pretty good too.

And just when i thought i would denounce myself as a GLEEK (because season 2 of GLEE is getting lame), i jump right back into the GLEEK wagon because of Ms. Paltrow.

Watch this mash-up of Rihanna’s Umbrella and Gene Kelly’s Singing in The Rain by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow and Matthew Morrison.

She is the epiphany of gorgeous and cool :).

Mika is Back, Back, Back!!!

Mika’s songs is on my lappie playlist since forever, it’s on my mp3 player playlist for jogging sessions, yoga sessions, Pilate sessions and even sometimes on hoola hoop sessions.

And now Mika’s back with a new album, “The Boy Who Knew Too Much”! It’s about time, it’s been 2 years already since his first. I was starting to think he’s a one hit wonder.

Made my day this video did :).

The vid here isn’t really clear. Go here instead to watch the official one.

Mika always makes me feel all silly and happy and a little bit crazy. I needed that alot. Yay!

Ps:// This weekend i’m going to have a look at the Gap jeans and Charles & Keith pumps yet again. I’m really obsessed but i’ve been spending too much $$$ on my face already. Sigh… we’ll see, we’ll see. Someone needs to zip-tie my hands behind my back so i won’t able to reach my wallet.

Bravo!

I just finish watching this Michael Jackson Medley for like the umpteenth times. The medley arrangement was done by Kurt Schneider and the vocals by Sam Tsui.

I can’t get enough of it. It’s fantastic! Posted it in mukabuku over the weekend and watched it repeatedly since then.

If you didn’t notice you’re an ignorant blind bat, all 5 on the stage is the same person. It’s really awesome! Plus the vocals is like really, really, really impressive.  After watching this clip i spent the whole Saturday night googling for Kurt Hugo Schneider and Sam Tsui.

Watch these.

He did an awfully better job at “Run” (ori by Snow Patrol) than Leona Lewis and sounds really good doing the Jason Mraz’s song. Great tenor, even my speakers had gone fuzzy and static when i play his voice on my lappie. Standing ovation man!

Google somemore and you will find a video of Sam Tsui and his group from the Duke’s Men of Yale a cappella group doing Umbrella by Rihanna. Super cute haha. This guy is really good.

I watched quite a number of videos of Sam Tsui including the hilarious “College Musical” and somemore amazing music arrangement by Kurt Schneider till like 6am in the morning. Thanks god next day was Sunday. I’m still recovering from the lack of sleep.

Here’s one of my fav from the talented Schneider guy. 15 pop songs in 7 1/2 minutes? He is the king :)

Arthur’s Day

Arthur's Day

It’s bad enough that the Black Eyed Peas concert in conjunction of Arthur’s Day does not allow Muslims but Arthur’s Day without alcohol??!

Ridiculous!

That’s like having chocolate mousse cake without the chocolate.

So they are going to sell Peel Fresh at the Guinness celebration is it? “An orange toast to Arthur! 250th year, aye aye! Oh look nutritious orange pulps!”. *groan*

And what is the point of the “no bitter sweet brew” rule when only non-Muslims are allowed to attend? Ain’t that contractictive?

There people have no logic, no logic at all.

Jazz Night Out

Last Sunday we were at KLCC for dinner at Nippon Tei before rushing to Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) hall for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at 8.30pm.

I wore my little black dress… the only little black dress i have which weren’t too short at the hemline for the occasion after all. Mr. Bf had to wear a shirt which he detest because he hate wearing shirts. I once asked him if he were to find a job that requires him to wear formal working attire, what would he do. He thank god profusely that his current job doesn’t requires that. That answered my question. LOL.

Anyhow, it is Mr. Bf’s first time at MPO and attending such ‘concert’ and my second time there so i was pretty excited. My first was during college for a classical play. I just love MPO. The hall is really fantastic and the sound is superb. Just being in the magnificent hall makes me feel a little classier than usual.

The hall were fully packed mostly with audiences of all ages and a lot of expats anticipating a great performance. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band who came all the way from New Orleans did not failed us and was fantastic as expected. I fell in love with jazz music all over again.

The band did their charm, they were entertaining and funny and full of character, experts with their instruments, cajoling the crowd with their funny antiques and hilarious lyrics. It was really awesome to see that more than a handful of the audience unembarrassed to thump their feet on the carpeted floor or gently sway (in their seats of course) to the beat of the music. I myself couldn’t help nodding and swaying my shoulders left and right throughout the performance.

The show lasted for 1 and a half hour which i regret was kind of short. Before the show ended the audiences were asked to stand up while the band played the very well known “When the Saints Go Marching In” made famous my Louis Armstrong.

Did you know that the song is traditionally used as a funeral march or also known as the jazz funeral in New Orleans? Not very appropriate but it got everyone warmed up since most of us knows the lyrics so everyone was clapping and singing too.

Big parade down the stairs

The band then started to parade down the aisle down to the audience and then around the whole hall while inviting us to join in the parade! It was really fun since the audience were to follow them up the stage and dance to that number. I wish i had gone up too but i was sitting in the far inside so i was contented to watch in envy the group of people enjoying themselves, let their hair down for once on stage.

To my surprise, the band then started to head towards the door and outside of the hall with streams of audiences on their trail dancing and laughing. That marked the end of the concert but not the end of the show. What a sight it was when the band paraded down to the lobby still playing their instruments, attracting more and more crowd on their way down. It was awesome!

Then there was an autographs session for their new Volume I album. Smart way to promote their album huh? LOL.

Too bad i didn’t get their signature because there were too many people but it was a really great night.

Kantoi

This song is the funniest song i’ve ever heard. I was searching for “Bitter Heart” by the very adorable and talented Zee Avi and stumbled upon this cute song named “Kantoi” also by her. The song is about infidelity and it’s in pure manglish. LOL.

Semalam I call you, you tak answer.
You kata you keluar pergi dinner.
You kata you keluar dengan kawan you.
But when I called Tommy he said it wasn’t true.

So I drove my car pergi Damansara.
Tommy kata maybe you tengok bola.
Tapi bila I sampai you, you tak ada.
Lagilah I jadi gila.

So I called and called sampai you answer.
You kata sorry sayang tadi tak dengar.
My phone was on silent, I was at the gym.
Tapi latar belakang suara perempuan lain.

Sudahlah sayang, I don’t believe you.
I’ve always known your words were never true.
Why am I with you, I pun tak tahu.
No wonderlah my friends pun tak suka you.

So I guess that’s the end of our story.
Akhir kata she accepted his apology.
Tapi last last kita dapat tahu she was cheating too.
With her ex boyfriend’s best friend – Tommy.

Adele

I’ve been neglecting to blog because i can’t get my fingers off Bejeweled Blitz. I swear who created this game is the devil! The truth is i just hate this game and it’s really a bore to begin with, arranging and zapping fake jewels isn’t really an exciting past-time.

The only reason i’m totally obsessed with the stupid game is because of the score. I hate to be a loser and i can’t believe those people with like 100k and above scores which is like insane. Do they eat Bejeweled, drink Bejeweled, sleep Bejeweled or what?

Thus the utterly confusing conversation with Mr. Bf every night while he play his King’s Bounty and i vigorously jab my fingers on the keyboard zapping jewels.

Me: Grrr! I can’t believe these bimbos have better scores than me!
Mr. Bf: You want to be the ultimate bimbo is it?? Haha… Shit! Wizard kena attack!
Me: Wtf. These people are not human! Where got people get so high score geh!
Mr. Bf: *grunt* Shit stupid dragon!
Me: Ei come help me with the scores!
Mr. Bf: Ok, ok after this round i come help you… Wtf! Why kena attack again! They are coming after me!…
Me: Your round always tak habis-habis geh. Wait for you to help i lose liao…
Mr. Bf: Ei they use the same tactic! So lame, don’t want play liao!
Me: F*ck la. I can’t score! #$%#@!@!

Haha Geez i need to get this stupid game out of my system.

By the way, did i tell you i’m a loyal fan of Ugly Betty? Love the show. Now i’m loving it even more becoz it’s from yesterday’s episode that i discovered Adele.

Ain’t she great? I can’t believe i didn’t know who she was before this. Such a great voice!
