Ring of Fire

Tonight i have a wedding dinner to attend to. It’s to celebrate the union of one of my good friend and her wonderful other half. They have been together for since i remember, it’s about time these inseparable love birds tie the knot. I wish her all the best and may the happy couple have a long and loving live together!

On another note, it feels kind of wrong to be celebrating at a devastating time like this. Japan had been hit by a 8.9 magnitude earthquake (one of the worst earthquake recorded in history) yesterday afternoon. The earthquake and 10 feet tsunami had caused destruction like i could never possibly imagine. Though the actual death toll have not been counted for, it’s not a figure i look forward to learn. Seeing the video footage of the disaster is heart breaking. Seeing Japan, a country so modern and advance swept away just like that is more than unnerving.

The disaster that struct Japan this time is on a league of it’s own. With a nuclear reactor sitting in the earthquake zone, i’m afraid the worst is not over. Already there are warnings about radiation leak causing mass evacuation. I’ll be constantly monitoring the news for updates. Let’s hope it’s all under control.

Sigh, it seems like it’s disaster after disaster after another disaster isn’t it? I might be skeptical about the Mayan prediction before but right now i’m almost a believer. It might not happen on 2012, but damnit it does feel like the world is ending soon. With the earth plate shifting so drastically fast (i read somewhere saying that the earthquake in Japan had caused sped up the earth rotation by 1.6 microseconds), perhaps we’ll live to see a new continent formed, who knows…

Citizen of Japan, stay strong. We will be praying for you. God bless.

Citizen of the world, constant vigilance.

Y U NO

Y U NO

There’s an article on the newspaper this morning about a bloody lucky man in KL that won Magnum 4D Jackpot.

Why it’s not me mentioned in the newspaper?. Why it’s not me who won the jackpot? Genina.

Bloody hell. I’m really upset now.

Oh yeah, Happy Women’s day by the way.

Dr. Mist

I’m sure most of everyone had used underarm deodorant or antiperspirant spray before. I know i have.

After trying few brands of products for several years i found that none of those suits me. First of all, some of the underarm deodorant (especially those roll-on types) have me feeling sticky the whole day. It always leaves stains on my clothes and i don’t think it’s too hygienic either.

I very much prefer the spray-on types which leaves the underarm dry and non-greasy but then there is the problem with the pungent fragrance of the deodorants.

To keep body odour at bay and the underarm area fresh the entire day, i prefer Dr. Mist (Body Hygiene Floatation Fluid Spray).

This made in Malaysia product adopts concentration of salt and mineral as the main ingredient which in contact with water when spraying out from the nozzle, will dries very quickly; it’s almost like alcohol. The salt and mineral component naturally helps control perspiration and formation of germs/bacteria living the underarm clean and fresh without the greasy and staining residue.

It comes in a spray bottle so it’s definitely hygienic and it’s fragrance-free. I prefer fragrance-free product so it doesn’t mix with my perfumes LOL. A note to remember; always make sure the underarm is clean and completely dry before applying.

Besides the underarm area, it also works for athlete foot, minor cuts/wounds, rashes, swelling and insect bites. Dr. Mist prevents formation of bacteria therefore keeping the infected area clean so that it heals quickly.

I’ve tried spraying it on serious insect bites and it really worked. The area feels less itchy and it healed quickly without inflammation.

Ruby Slippers

Ruby Slippers

Introducing my new love.

Initially i thought it looked like something out of Little Red Riding Hood but then again isn’t only the hood was red. I don’t think she wore red shoes at all.

Then i remembered Wizard of Oz! Oh yes, it’s the magical ruby slippers Dorothy wore!

Don’t you sometimes wish ever so hard that you’ll be transported to the exotic place of your dreams; away from the busy, bustling city life? I do, and right now i wish i was in a far, far away land where there’s white and navy blue spectrum as far as the eye can see.

“There’s no place like Santorini… there’s no place like Santorini…there’s no place like Santorini.”

Genina!!!!!

Genina!!!!!

It has become a daily (or should i say nightly) obsession of mine ever since the boyfriend purchased his Google Nexus S to appease his dying need for gadgets.

Trust me, i think i am more thrilled than him at receiving the phone. Every night before i go to bed, i grab his precious phone and smuggle it into the toilet. Yes, every night i must have a few rounds of Sudoku (from genina.com obviously) before i sleep.

Ok you say i am super gross but god help me i can’t do my business staring blankly at the wall ok and according to studies Sudoku is supposed to be good mental exercise so i figure it’s even better playing while you’re in the bathroom because doing 2 task at once will double the mental exertion.

Yeah, sure laugh at me now; we’ll see who’ll laugh last when you end up with Alzheimer.  Ha!

And now “genina” has become my favorite word.

It has no meaning to me at all (not in the language that i understand anyways). I just found out from the boyfriend that it does sound a little like a Hokkien foul word that you’ll never hear coming from my mouth. But i’ll say “genina” has a nice ring to it. I use it all the time, everyday.

Like when the boyfriend gives me lame excuses for being late i say “Genina la you!”

Or when some imbecile/race-car-driver wannabe tries to be funny with us on the road, i go “WTF, WTF, WTF! Genina bastard!!!!”

Or when the boyfriend acts cute, i will roll my eyes and say “Haha so not cute. Like genina only… “.

Or when my phone/laptop decided to go into coma then appropriately i scream at the top of my lungs, “GENIIIIIIIIIINAAAAAAAARRRGGHHH!!!!!!!”

It’s a beautiful word don’t you agree?

Face Shop Nail Supplement Top Coat & Nail Color BL604

What is it with the female species and nail polishes?

The possibility of looking chic and pretty of course! I’ve never known any female friends who have not colored their nails before. Come on, who could resist having beautiful and colorful nails right?

That being said, The Face Shop Nail Color swatches certainly looks tempting. The color is update and cute; i see a lot of my favorite colors on the palette. One of my favorite is the glossy midnight blue color (BL604) which kind of gives a gothic but super cool vibe when i wear it.

However, i am not impressed with the quality of The Face Shop’s nail color or even the top coat.

First the nail color (BL604) – though i love the dark shade, the texture is quite runny and watery. It dries fast after application but it chips easily. It doesn’t last long; without doing housework i think it could only last for maybe a week or so before the color starts chipping off. Plus my nails became brittle. I suggest you use a really good base coat with this to protect the nails.

The top coat on the other hand, comes as a transparent, blue-ish liquid which is also rather watery. Don’t mistake it as transparent nail color because it’s really not good on the nails. I’ve tried applying the top coat on my nails without a coat of nail polish and my nails ended up dry and brittle after that.

Applying the top coat makes the nail color last longer but only slightly.

Not the best nail color but given the super affordable price (only RM5.00 per bottle) and the nice selection on color, it’s not really a bad investment. I could live with brittle nails some of the time :).

Customer Service in Malaysia

Customer Service in Malaysia

If you’re a Malaysian or in fact if you are living in Malaysia and had to deal with customer services from any company in this country (especially the banking sector), then you’ll know be very familiar with the blood boiling process of getting your problem heard let alone solved. I’m hyperventilating even as i recall my recent “battle” with poor service from a particular finance company which i’m not going to mention here just yet.

Having friends who used to work at call centres and customer service departments, it’s hard not to sympathize with the staffs. Most of the time the staff lack even the most basic training. They are expected to handle calls with the little product knowledge and servicing skills that they absorbed watching the seniors at work.

Ah well, that doesn’t stop me from yelling at their incompetency. I’m sorry, but it gets really ridiculous sometimes so if you want to blame, blame your employer.

This kind of sum up what i’ve been through numerous of times dealing with finance company in Malaysia.  So darn frustrating can die!

Funny huh? Not so funny when you’re the one calling for help.

Lesson learned from the countless times dealing with banks: When all else fails, threaten them with a letter to BNM. That should get things going.

Ps: They (citibank) called me yesterday afternoon to apologize for my bad experience and waived all the fees. Phew! After more than 4 months finally it’s settled. BNM rox!
