Learning to Cycle

Did you know that there’s a bicycle shop at Desa Parkcity which offers rental service for bicycles? Oh, i’ve noticed that shop since long ago but i didn’t know they offered bicycle rentals till recently when they hung a big “bicycle for rental” sign. That really caught my eyes.

Being a typical city slicker, i don’t know how to cycle (never knew and never tried) and don’t know how to swim until recent years. Growing up in the city with no easy access to the beach or even pool and no danger-free place to cycle without getting harassed by passing vehicles in additional to over-protective parents makes a very dull childhood… or maybe it’s just me haha.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to ride a bicycle so yesterday instead of our usual walk around the park, we paid he cut-throat price of RM10 per hour (a four-wheeler for 2 person cost a hefty RM25 per hour!) and got myself a pink bicycle.

I had no idea learning how to ride was so difficult! After a full hour of pedaling and falling and sweating i still don’t know how to do it. The boyfriend is a lousy teacher and i, an even worst student which rewarded me with blistered palm, muscle ache, an extremely sore buttock and zero riding skills. Seating on hard surface is a pain today and i’m walking like a duck.

It’s funny too to see the expression on the boyfriend’s face when he come to realize this is also the way i drive a car – no coordination, no patience and sheer panic!
