Ah… where do i even begin.

First of all it doesn’t help that i sat next to an obviously and overly excited groupie. I don’t know if she’s actually obsessed with Robert Downey Jr. himself or with Tony Stark – i doubt she could distinguish the real person from the character he was playing.

It was really scary, one of the worst type of person to be neighbors with in the cinema.

She was utterly engrossed with the movie, she gasp and clapped and laughed (really loudly) at every single Tony Stark moment. You would have thought she almost had an orgasm and wet herself watching Ironman 2 which wasn’t really that exciting to begin with.

Did i tell you it’s not her first time watching the movie?! Hey, it’s not my fault that she having a really loud conversation with her friend during the adverts. Geez!

Ok, lets get on with Ironman 2.

It was… enjoyable but not fantastic. It wasn’t even great.

My cousin wrote this sentence on facebook “Ironman 2, the most boring action movie ever. All talk but no action” which sadly at some point i have to agree with. There were simply too much redundant chattering but action wise it was like watching a movie trailer – it was all over in a few minutes. The final battle between Ironman and Whiplash was disappointing.

Sigh… and i was so looking forward to this second installment.

The storyline was weak and they relied too much on special effects. Some of the scenes were just a waste of movie time, with insane rambling and just to showcase some special effects. Most of the scenes were very draggy for example, the opening of Ironman 2 at Stark Convention was really long and unnecessary. The courtroom scene could be shortened and well… not really necessary. This goes the same with many of the scenes in this movie.

While Robert Downey Jr. is as always brilliant, it is always a joy to watch him, other supporting characters just failed to capture the audience. The characters were under-developed and lack of substance.

Sam Rockwell played the unconvincing and totally annoying Justin Hammer (Stark’s rival). He’s portrayal of the bad guy is totally weak. I kept thinking where did i see him before, then it came to me. He looked like Tom Cruise but less handsome and lot more annoying.

whiplash

As for the villain, Whiplash (played by Mickey Rourke), i feel that they could have gave him more depth. He didn’t get much screen time considering he is the main bad guy of the show. Anyhow, he lacks the “scary, evil and intimidating” factor – he was just a crazy muscular guy with a whip.

Black Widow (played by) Scarlett Johansson was so stony but she and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) was hot so that made up for everything.

Ah… so i would rate this movie a 5.5 out of 10 or maybe a 6 just for Robert Downey Jr. but i guess some of us really enjoyed the show. I thinki heard the groupie next to me sigh in satisfaction when the credit rolled.
