White Room

Sleepy, tired, a little bored and a little anxious. That’s how i feel right now.

I’ve been at the hospital since morning and have been playing the waiting game since then.

Mom’s having a 3 hour surgery. I’ve just watched her being wheeled off to the ICU before rushing down to the canteen for a very late lunch – chicken rice which wasn’t really bad for hospital food. It’ll be a while before mom comes out and a little longer before she comes off the anesthetics.

I’ve just learned how to play Sudoku. Not bad. I’m a fast learner.

There’s a female patient i think in her early 20′s in the same room. She’s from Australia, alone waiting for treatment for some sort of injury. I think it’s minor i’m not sure but she’s been crying and complaining alot. I don’t blame her, i’ll be extremely terrified given in her shoes – in a hospital without my family around.

Poor girl. She was really stressed and kept asking for a ciggie. She’s kind of like a VIP here because nurses kept coming in to check on her. I’ve heard her telling different nurses her name and where she’s from and what’s she’s doing here and what’s her problem like so many damn times i could recite it with my eyes closed. Mom was really worried about her though, she even asked me to go to her bed and have a chat with her.

Errr… i’m still trying to decide whether to go over to console her. I’m not really a chatty person… Oh yeah! And i’m a little put off when she dissed Malaysian coffee saying “it really sux” to the nurse. Yeap, even though it’s the fact, i’m still a wee bit annoyed by her lack of tact. I’m rather patriotic in this way. Well, other than that she’s kind of nice and smiled to me and very polite. So, i’m still considering. Haha.

By the way, insider tips. There’ll be Secret Recipe franchise in Aussie soon. :P

The woman occupying the bed directly opposite my mom is in for a checkup. Apparently her cholesterol level and blood pressure is going up the roof.

I think her insurance policy sort of covers the minor tests because i’m starting to think that Malaysians are getting wealthier by the general. Pantai is not what we call affordable to common people. And oh boy she really snores. Like really loud that type.

The lady on the next bed is pretty noisy as well. She kept receiving calls which she answers loudly in Hokkien dialect. Every half hour or 1 hour there will be a call. It’s always about the same thing – something about Hong Leong Bank.

I think she was admitted yesterday and was supposed to get discharged today. But she’s here since morning with her bags on the table ready to go. It’s 3pm now. If i deduced correctly, she was saying how Hong Leong insurance sux and how difficult it is to finalize the bill. Well, i could be wrong. I don’t speak Hokkien, i understand even less.

Oh, there goes another call again… shhhh.

Stressful Week

Someday i’ll have to learn to keep my big mouth shut for my own benefits.
Someday i’ll have to accept when my views and and opinions are not valued even if i’ve been asked to give one.
Someday i’ll have to stop caring so much and learn not to be affected by people’s criticism.

It all ends up with me treating myself better and holding myself like a sponge – absorb the positive and squeeze out the negative, ain’t it?

Ok, you won’t understand what i’m rattling about. But there are alot of stuff going on in my life that has left me very anxious, worried and stressful at the moment. It’s been days of insomnia again. Sigh… Year of Tiger come on, give me a break! But i digress. I’ll leave that part of the information out for the time being, maybe till the end of the week.

Speaking of stressful stuffs, i heard few more churches was attacked making a total of 8 churches now. Outrageous if you ask me. I’m an Atheist (free thinker) myself but that doesn’t mean i disrespect people that holds to their religion. Attacking a religious house is really out of bounds and all over a stupid issue. It’s a disgrace that there are Malaysians that could stoop so low.

Burnt

Have you heard about the arson attacks on 3 churches in Klang Valley? No doubt over the latest and much conflicted dispute on the use of the word ”Allah” by non-Muslims.

Sigh… what the hell is wrong with these people??!!!

Here (taken from http://www.nytimes.com/).

3 Malaysian Churches Attacked in ‘Allah’ Dispute

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Assailants attacked three Malaysian churches with firebombs Friday, extensively damaging one amid a growing conflict over the use of the word ”Allah” by non-Muslims, officials said.

The attacks sharply escalated tensions in the Muslim-majority country ahead of planned protests by Muslims later Friday against a Kuala Lumpur High Court verdict which struck down a 3-year-old ban on non-Muslims using ”Allah” in their literature.

”I condemn these actions because they will destroy our country’s harmony,” Prime Minister Najib Razak told reporters. ”The government will take whatever steps it can to prevent such acts.”

Najib said he has told the national police chief to step up security at churches and other places of worship.

The Dec. 31 court decision incensed many Muslims, who see it as a threat to their religion. Hateful comments and threats against Christians have been posted widely on the Internet, but this is the first time the controversy has turned destructive.

The ruling was on a petition by Malaysia’s Roman Catholic Church, whose main publication, the Herald, uses the word Allah in its Malay-language edition.

The first-floor office in the three-story Metro Tabernacle Church was destroyed in a blaze a little after midnight, said Kevin Ang, a spokesman for the Protestant church. The worship areas on the upper two floors were undamaged and there were no injuries.

Kuala Lumpur police Chief Mohamad Sabtu Osman told The Associated Press that a witness saw four people on two motorcycles breaking the glass front of the church and throwing an incendiary object inside before fleeing.

He said police found a wrench, an empty gasoline can and two scorched motorcycle helmets at the scene. The church occupies a corner plot in a row of shops in Desa Melawati, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur.

”We are still investigating,” he said. He also urged Muslims not to participate in the planned protests.

Separately, Molotov cocktails were thrown into the compounds of two other churches before dawn, causing minor damage in one and none in the other, church officials said.

The Rev. Lawrence Andrew, the editor of the Herald, said many churches have employed extra security guards. ”Most churches are taking precautions. They are aware it may just blow up,” he said.

The government has appealed the court verdict and the High Court has suspended its decision’s implementation until the appeal is heard.

Muslims argue that ”Allah” is exclusive to Islam, and its use by Christians would confuse Muslims and tempt them to convert to Christianity.

About 60 percent of Malaysia’s 28 million people are Malay Muslims, while the rest are ethnic Chinese, Indians and indigenous tribes. The minorities follow Christianity, Hinduism and other religions.

The Malay-speaking indigenous tribespeople, living in remote states of Sabah and Sarawak, are the main readers of the Herald’s Malay-language edition. Catholic officials say ”Allah” is the only word they know for God.

Many Muslims in Malaysia have refused to accept the argument that ”Allah” is an Arabic word that predates Islam, and that it is used by Christians in countries such as Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Indonesia regularly in their worship.

The backlash against the court verdict has reinforced complaints by minorities that they face institutional discrimination by the government.

On Thursday, the Malaysian judiciary’s Web site was hacked and defaced with an apparent threat to Christians, The Star newspaper reported. The site, however, appeared to be normal on Friday.

The Star said the hacker, using the alias ”Brainwash,” defaced the site with a banner saying: ”Mess with the best, die like the rest” and ”Allah only restricted to Muslim only.”

Reunion 2010

Well hello there. Today is a fine sunny day and it looks like a promising day, hopefully i’ll get loads done before the evening.

I had a really bad dream – me screaming at the top of my lungs in frustration at a certain someone who kept smiling as though she haven’t heard me, then having wake up so early in the morning with my heart thumping so fast, dry mouth and me lunging for air because of difficulty in breathing as though i have an asthma attack. It’s a wonder how the mind works subconsciously slipping in hopeful scenes from the conscious state.

Nevertheless, despite that, i feel today would be a good day. The new year mood still lingering in the air. :)

Last weekend we had a small gathering, the girlfriends and i and of course the boyfriends were included too. It was sweet and simple just the way i like it but it would have been a better outing if i had not been sick.

Well, i look like a blown up whale in all the photos so i filtered it out. Here’s a few of my fav… of course it’s photoshop-ed lar. Didn’t i tell you i looked like a blown up whale with a red nose wat?!

Here’s one from Xiao Fei Yang Steamboat at Jalan Pudu.

UFO beeper
UFO beeper

I was impressed with the UFO beeper thingy they had in the shop. You take a seat then place your order at the counter. They will hand you the UFO beeper with the matching table number. When your order is ready the beeper will go off and blink so you can go collect your food. Very cute even though the boyfriend wonders why they had to make it so darn big LOL.

Stuff from MIL

Hey, this is the first post of 2010. Happy New Year everyone! New beginning, new hope!

I’m hoping i would be able to achieve my new year resolution which is only to keep fit and healthy. I use to make a long list of resolutions every year but i realize that it’s useless and full of crap that i can’t be bothered to do anyways, so this year there’s only one. But what a bummer it is that i’ve actually already fallen sick (flu and fever) on the first few days of the new year!

I tell myself nevermind, it’s for the better. After i have recover later, my body will be stronger, my immune system boost up another level, and i’ll be the ultimate exercise machine!

Yes, must talk myself into it. Haha.

Besides that, looks what’s new sitting on the tele set next to the rainbow aerial.

chicken alarm

It’s 2 chicken or hen sitting on a nest. It’s supposed to be an alarm or something… Boyfriend’s mom bought it and shove it to him. Errr… weird. I can’t stop laughing whenever i see it. It looks really ridiculus.

You know you’ve always heard people complaining about the hideous stuff that mother in laws brings to the house as presents, and how they can’t stand the look of it so they banish it into the store room or under the bed. Then it’s taken out and dusted once or twice a year and pristinely placed eye-level on the shelve in the living room so the mother in law will see how much you cherish the gift.

This chicken alarm thingy totally qualifies in that category. Well it’s not for me but it certainly reminds me of that. *stifle a giggle*.
