Jazz Night Out

Last Sunday we were at KLCC for dinner at Nippon Tei before rushing to Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) hall for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at 8.30pm.

I wore my little black dress… the only little black dress i have which weren’t too short at the hemline for the occasion after all. Mr. Bf had to wear a shirt which he detest because he hate wearing shirts. I once asked him if he were to find a job that requires him to wear formal working attire, what would he do. He thank god profusely that his current job doesn’t requires that. That answered my question. LOL.

Anyhow, it is Mr. Bf’s first time at MPO and attending such ‘concert’ and my second time there so i was pretty excited. My first was during college for a classical play. I just love MPO. The hall is really fantastic and the sound is superb. Just being in the magnificent hall makes me feel a little classier than usual.

The hall were fully packed mostly with audiences of all ages and a lot of expats anticipating a great performance. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band who came all the way from New Orleans did not failed us and was fantastic as expected. I fell in love with jazz music all over again.

The band did their charm, they were entertaining and funny and full of character, experts with their instruments, cajoling the crowd with their funny antiques and hilarious lyrics. It was really awesome to see that more than a handful of the audience unembarrassed to thump their feet on the carpeted floor or gently sway (in their seats of course) to the beat of the music. I myself couldn’t help nodding and swaying my shoulders left and right throughout the performance.

The show lasted for 1 and a half hour which i regret was kind of short. Before the show ended the audiences were asked to stand up while the band played the very well known “When the Saints Go Marching In” made famous my Louis Armstrong.

Did you know that the song is traditionally used as a funeral march or also known as the jazz funeral in New Orleans? Not very appropriate but it got everyone warmed up since most of us knows the lyrics so everyone was clapping and singing too.

The band then started to parade down the aisle down to the audience and then around the whole hall while inviting us to join in the parade! It was really fun since the audience were to follow them up the stage and dance to that number. I wish i had gone up too but i was sitting in the far inside so i was contented to watch in envy the group of people enjoying themselves, let their hair down for once on stage.

To my surprise, the band then started to head towards the door and outside of the hall with streams of audiences on their trail dancing and laughing. That marked the end of the concert but not the end of the show. What a sight it was when the band paraded down to the lobby still playing their instruments, attracting more and more crowd on their way down. It was awesome!

Then there was an autographs session for their new Volume I album. Smart way to promote their album huh? LOL.

Too bad i didn’t get their signature because there were too many people but it was a really great night.

White Babies

What the hell does smart casual means? No jeans, no slipper, no sneakers and no T-shirt… then where does the word ‘casual’ comes from ler… -_-”.

I beginning to think that the jazz concert doesn’t encourage girls to wear sleeveless too. If no denim and sleeveless is allowed then they might as well have written “Work Attire” on the invitation card or something.

I’ve been rummaging my wardrobe and it’s really sad. I only own 3 dresses in my life (a LBD which is really short, a orange British India summer dress and a shirt-dress that’s more appropriate at the office) and that’s like the sadest and most pathetic thing i’ve ever heard. How can i only have 3 dresses?! Even worst none of them are appropriate for the event. I’m going to the mall these weekend to buy a dozen. Hmpf!

You know what, i’m almost cured of the Pinkerton Syndrome. Yes, almost. Right now i just want a white baby, i don’t care if i ever get a white husband anymore.

I’m starting to think that working for white boys aren’t as fun and wonderful as i thought too. In fact, some of them think too highly of themselves. They might have a fun and carefree attitude towards work but they have a really hard time following instructions and they are not a very responsible lot. But of course i’m not talking about all white boys, maybe a handful of them but that’s enough to scar my obsession towards white guys.

But oh well, a treat of McDonald’s McValue Meal from a white boss makes you 5 times happier than a similar treat from a Malaysian boss right? Yes, of course and white babies are 5 times cuter than Malaysian babies.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band

Hey, hey. Watched Pelham 123 last on the weekend and it was awesome. John Travolta was brilliant! Overshadowed Denzel Washington he did. Yup, one of the best movies of the year.

Air Asia’s supposedly Big Sale is really a flop. So disappointing you know. When the clock stroked 12, the whole system jammed. It took me ages to load the page only to find out that the sale only cover local destination. Wtf. I want to go Boracay not Kuala Terengganu lar wei!

Anyways, we bought tickets to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band which is playing at Philharmonic Orchestra this coming weekend. I just can’t wait.

Not Finished Yet

I’m having food poisoning and the doctor laughed at me while he put pressure on my stomach. He thinks my stomach making gurgling sounds was very funny indeed. I think the poor man is just trying to make his day a little more cheerful, the waiting room was full of dreadful looking patient i don’t know how someone could stand the depressing state the whole day.

I’m glad it’s just food poisoning. Not that i’m not miserable, i’ve been having diarrhea for 2 days now and feeling quite feverish the past few days but i’m happy it’s not H1N1. This morning i went on the net in search for H1N1 symptoms coz i’m also having a bit of a cold and i was sure i had swine flu. I’m always such a paranoia.

As soon as Mr. Bf got back we went to the clinic. I didn’t confess that i actually think i have swine flu because by evening i already convinced myself by saying again and again that i was merely having a cold.

Now i’m plopped on my bed after taking a whole lot of medicine that’s suppose to cure my diarrhea. How come i’m still having the weird stab of pain in my abdomen, i think i’m gonna have a go at the toilet again later. Yep, later coz i really need to complete my travel blog post. I’ve been putting it off since February. It’s really pathetic that i haven’t completed writing about my Feb trip and it’s now August. Sigh…

Not my fault really. Mr. Bf hogged my laptop while i was in the shower. When i came into the room he looked as though he had died and gone to heaven. Very obsessed he is about old Chinese songs (he calls it classics). He had been moaning about the Emil Chow and another 3 fella in the Super Band Concert that he had missed few days ago. So he had the youtube on the highest volume and had a small karaoke session all by himself while i hide my face in Harry Potter (Goblet of Fire) book that i’m now reading for the second time.

It’s a wonder how many old Chinese songs are uploaded in youtube. By saying ‘old’ i mean really old like in my mom’s era kinda old. It’s even more amazing that Mr. Bf was singing to those songs by heart and looking so blissful like a kid with a new toy. I’ll never understand. Thank god that i have Harry Potter although he keep distracting me by telling me excitedly the names of each song he was singing and the singer’s name too. Like i care. Haha.

And that is why i could not finish my travel post thank you very much. -_-”

Pain Relief

Concerned over my dad’s increasingly painful gout attack, i’ve been wondering how i could help him feel better. I was closed to tears early this year when we were on a trip to Bangkok because dad had sudden bouts of gout attack whereby his feet swelled unrecognizably. He was in such pain that he was bed ridden in the hotel room and needed a wheel chair to get to the airport’s departure gate.

Mom on the other hand has plantar fasciitis. The supporting tissue of her heels had been worn out and sometimes her feet are so painful she cannot even walk. She needs some kind of a pain relief.

Elderly people have a higher rate of health problems but that doesn’t mean the younger generation could take it easy. With the fast pace environment of the working world now, it’s very common to suffer from back and neck pain due to long hours on the desk. A friend of mine just told me yesterday that the lymph node on the back of her neck was inflamed and the doctor had to prescribe a whole lot of pain killers to relief her pain.

For an alternative, www.Painreliefreviews.com is a website that will give you detailed information on how to manage your pain and the recommended treatments to relief the pain. There are reviews for different kind of health conditions such as, the most common back pain relief and arthritis pain relief. Definitely a website worth a browse. You could use the information for future use or to help your loved ones now.

Home Sweet Home

Mr. Bf is living in a condo but i don’t really like condos. It’s very confined and it’s difficult to clean. He’s at the 4th story but you can’t imagine the dust it accumulates just after one day of cleaning. The higher you stay the dustier it gets. So i demanded that the main window to be closed at all times else i’m not stepping into the house.

The unit doesn’t look like the home i dreamed about but a little better looking than a rented unit. We’ve decided not to renovate it or furnish it properly because i… er i mean we really want a landed property in the future… if we get married. Ok, laugh at me coz i am thinking about getting married -_-”.

Back to the topic, so now the house is like with cheap marble floors that tends to accumulate dirt and hair seems to be everywhere and i have dust allergy which sux. Cheap tiles are really the worst. It’s hard to clean. The kitchen looks like there’s a chemistry project gone wrong in there. Sigh…

I wonder when can we get a new place so he can sell this condo lot off. I already have all the rooms planed especially the library. There will be a tiny DIY workshop for Mr. Bf, separate work rooms for us both (ok, we are weird and like our privacy very well), a master bedroom, and a library. Part of the kitchen will have a glass ceiling for enough sunlight. I have the colors and furniture and deco all drawn in my head. We need to earn more. Sigh…
