personally i dont give to people asking in the open. majority are fakes. true!

i still give to charity but via proper channels.

I found a way around these irritating people – I usually ask for a number to verify with their parent organisation (not that I really want to call, but rather to see their reaction).

If they’re genuine, they’ll more often than not give me the number. If it’s a scam, they usually “err, ahh”, avoid the question and try to get away.

But as in most donations, I find it much easier to go direct to the foundation/ organisation itself – and setting aside a little bit of money each month makes karma feel a lot better… :)
