Just a reminder to everyone that today is Father’s Day. Pamper him and let him know he’s appreciated.
We had our Father’s Day Dinner yesterday night… to avoid our feet getting trampled by people in the crowded restaurant on the exact date. Somehow, i doubt that restaurants would be as crowded as it was on Mother’s Day. Now, why is that?
Initially i googled for “Father’s Day 2008″ to check if i got the date wrong. It’s 15th June 2008 no? I was hoping to find blogs with Father’s Day dedications so i could xerox it, change the name and post it on my blog claiming it’s my original. Unfortunately there was just a tiny few blog dedications that i found. I was almost convinced that i got the date wrong. Now, why is that?
That’s just it. Fathers are the most important man in our lives. However, often, they are the unsung heroes. As our mother is the one who carried us for 9 months in her womb, nurse us, care for us and spends more time with us, we often forget the sacrifices of our father. Coming from a family of all girls siblings, i admit that sometimes i do not understand him and take him for granted.
Here’s a list of 5 points to remind me, the ignorant daughter, of why i should be proud of my dad.
1) My dad’s an extremely good handyman. He works the pipes, built cupboards, fix cars, change bulbs, built fences and repair whatever things that needs fixing. Plumbers and electricians never need to step into my house ever. How many of you guys metro-sexual guys can do that nowadays? Not many.
2) My dad speaks excellent English and read English books by author such as John Grisham, Jeffrey Archer and Wilbur Smith even though he stopped schooling at form 3. He has a trusty dictionary beside his bed.
3) My dad is the only male in our family of 7. Enough said.
4) My dad is over protective towards us. We were raised to be well mannered and sensitive towards other’s feeling. (although i curse alot on this blog, i’m very polite in person :P)
5) My dad is my father, a forgiver. We had our share of misunderstanding but i’m always forgiven. No one out there could forgive me always.
Dad, Happy Father’s Day. A toast to you. Muacks!
