There’ll be a Green Every Day celebration on 8th June 2008 at Taman Lembah Kiara in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. That’s this coming Sunday to be exact. Admission is free and the event is from 9am to 4pm. There’s no specification on what events will be held there but i think there’s no harm dropping by if i could make it. Afterall, i’m all for the environment. Are you going to check it out?
Speaking of environment, i think more and more people are aware of environmental issues such as climate change and environmental conservation. I know i am. Just today, there is news on China taking a curb on plastic usage in the country. I had no idea that China alone is consuming 1 trillion of plastic per year. Imagine the total of plastic waste, all countries combined. No wonder Mother Earth is wrecking havoc like crazy.
Personally i think China’s move by charging the public for plastic bags and banning unnecessary use of plastics is the way to go. Malaysia too may benefit from similar acts. Well, maybe not a complete ban in plastic bags. *mom will kill me coz she’s using those for sealing food in the refrigerator. Maybe just a ban in shopping malls. This might push the people to opt for alternatives like using a green bag which will help in the ecology department for long term.
My pledges for a greener world made ahead is:
“I will decline plastic bags at shopping malls or stores but use a green bag instead”
Ps: If you didn’t know, Justlife was selling a really cute shopping bag the last time i went for a visit. It’s priced at RM25 and it’s meant as a green bag. Have no idea if they’re still selling it. I’ll check it out if i’m there.
Dear Nuffnang, why not have an environment related event? Then old bags like me could join in the fun. Old ladies cannot be seen partying in wild animal costumes
*i’m kidding. I’m not old, i’m just wrinkly… same goes to i’m not fat, i’m just big bone.

i brought my shopping bag to a store the other day and this is what happens.
Cashier : you don’t want to use our plastic bag?
me : it’s ok. save the environment. use less plastic bags.
cashier : ok. by the way, your bag looks nice. where did you get it?
me : (it’s mister potata on the bag) got it from a launch. thanks.
guess, not everyone is thinking of using less plastic bags
Being green is not just about plastic bag.
Do you travel by air?
Do you eat imported veggie or fruits?
Do you eat beef?
Do you print documents on paper?
Do you… (the list can go on)
rainingheaven>> yep, even my mom loves to use plastic bags LOL but every person who’s aware counts right
khengsiong>> i know. but i can’t walk to australia or print on leaves or even eat everything local right
. using less plastic is a start
everyone is trying to go green nowadays but only when someones looking. when the spotlight’s not on us we tend to go back to our filthy habits. internalize the green habit and then the world will be a better place
Agreed. Nuffnang should have something that helps the world.
Oh well, the stuff that they do at the moment is kinda good too in terms of community, in mt opinion.
Boss Stewie should recycle Ah Bop
i don’t bring a shopping bag because i know i’ll lots of stuff. usually i’ll reuse the plastic bags as rubbish bags. food stored in my cupboards and refrigerator are in boxes instead of plastic bags because is more tidy and cleaner. sometimes when i buy 1 or 2 things like sweet, then i don’t take the plastic bags.
jc>> that’s coz it’s the trend now. people are cashing in on the environmental awareness. well at least when ppl are looking they will do something. better than not doing something all the time LOL
3.8>> yup. let’s see if there’s any charity event we could get involved with.
simon>> wa wa who’s ah bop?
baby>> good for you. for me, when i have a car i won’t take plastic bags anymore. just chuck everything into the car.
Every time I go shopping I’ll bring my own bag. And then, there is this one time where the cashier uses plastic first and then put it in the shopping bag. This shows how unaware people are of this matter.
And its funny how going green has become a popular trend in the fashion industry. it is indeed a very good platform to spread the word. but it gets disappointing when some people goes green to be ‘in’.
kudos to you for the post. mother nature need more of people like you.
sara>> well, if everyone goes round trying to be ‘in’ with green (it rhymes LOL) means that these ppl are aware of the issue even though they are not really sincerely concern about it. Awareness is a good start right
