I Got RM1250 of Road Tax Rebates. Bwahaha!

Yesterday mark the start date for Malaysians motorists to get their road tax rebates. (An attempt from the government to cushion the blow of the recent fuel hike). The rebate of up to RM625.00 – private vehicle; RM150.00 for motorcycles, are for those who had paid their road tax within April and May. For those who had paid before April you’re not eligible for rebate this year, while for those after the month of May, you’ll get it in July.

Even though the claim period is from yesterday till the end of March next year, being typical Malaysians, when there are announcement of cash rebates, everyone would be queuing up since the wee hour in the morning.

Mom was paranoid. She woke me up 2 hours early to drive all the way to the post office. Her exact words are “I’m getting the cash today no matter what! Mana tahu now they say got rebate, next week say rebate called off?!”.

-_-” Nothing beats getting hands on cold hard cash huh?. I guess most of the people especially elders have the same thinking because there were so many people waiting for the post office gate to open. For a mere RM150.00 rebate, some motorcyclists were banging the gate with their helmets nearly causing a riot. Yeah, people are really getting that poor and desperate with the new fuel price.

Since there were 2 counters open for that day, we waited almost 3 hour to get the RM1250. RM1250 coz it’s for 2 vehicles. I strongly advise you to get an old dying car just to rip the road tax rebates. How’s that for a backup plan? *muahahaha!

Ps: You can opt of the “kiriman wang” (postal order) if you don’t have time to stand in the queue. They’ll send the cheque to your home.

Happy Father’s Day 2008

Just a reminder to everyone that today is Father’s Day. Pamper him and let him know he’s appreciated.

We had our Father’s Day Dinner yesterday night… to avoid our feet getting trampled by people in the crowded restaurant on the exact date. Somehow, i doubt that restaurants would be as crowded as it was on Mother’s Day. Now, why is that?

Initially i googled for “Father’s Day 2008″ to check if i got the date wrong. It’s 15th June 2008 no? I was hoping to find blogs with Father’s Day dedications so i could xerox it, change the name and post it on my blog claiming it’s my original. Unfortunately there was just a tiny few blog dedications that i found. I was almost convinced that i got the date wrong. Now, why is that?

That’s just it. Fathers are the most important man in our lives. However, often, they are the unsung heroes. As our mother is the one who carried us for 9 months in her womb, nurse us, care for us and spends more time with us, we often forget the sacrifices of our father. Coming from a family of all girls siblings, i admit that sometimes i do not understand him and take him for granted.

Here’s a list of 5 points to remind me, the ignorant daughter, of why i should be proud of my dad.

1) My dad’s an extremely good handyman. He works the pipes, built cupboards, fix cars, change bulbs, built fences and repair whatever things that needs fixing. Plumbers and electricians never need to step into my house ever. How many of you guys metro-sexual guys can do that nowadays? Not many.

2) My dad speaks excellent English and read English books by author such as John Grisham, Jeffrey Archer and Wilbur Smith even though he stopped schooling at form 3. He has a trusty dictionary beside his bed.

3) My dad is the only male in our family of 7. Enough said.

4) My dad is over protective towards us. We were raised to be well mannered and sensitive towards other’s feeling. (although i curse alot on this blog, i’m very polite in person :P)

5) My dad is my father, a forgiver. We had our share of misunderstanding but i’m always forgiven. No one out there could forgive me always.

Dad, Happy Father’s Day. A toast to you. Muacks!
