KY and Shaolin Tiger have a point there. The recent petrol price hike of 40% SHOULD be a good thing. The removal of subsidy is a good thing because it will free up a lot of money for the government. The government can’t be subsidizing forever. It would eventually end.
The major question is, what would happen to the money freed up by the subsidy removal?
Will it be used accordingly to benefit the people or will it be “expertly” frittered away without even a blink of an eye?
It seems that the public is either not aware of this so called “subsidy mechanism” or they simply have no faith in the government. Unfortunately, most probably it is due to the later. This hike is obviously soundly affecting the people. People are staging protests over this recent price rise. Now don’t let me get started on the inflation rate in Malaysia.
It’s hardly to blame because our Malaysian government has yet to prove their… uhm… “money handling skills” if you know what i mean.
Speaking of our government and money handling, this image pops in mind.

Our very own next orang utan astronaut? maybe?
Knowing our government’s penchant for breaking records. Send an extinct ape into space and deem it as educational.
As for the road tax rebate, it’s great but does it help? They have yet to finalize the whole thing. It looks like a trial and error system to me.
As for me, i’m still preparing to eat grass and walk barefoot for the rest of the years.
