Know One Teach One

I apologize for my Heineken post before this. I plead guilty of spamming my own blog. I’m a bit jumbled up and crazy for the past few days… *drunk before having beer wakaka! i think my saliva have traces of natural alchohol o.O…

There are 69 more days till my trip to Hanoi. I’m not overly excited about it. Planning is still stuck at ground zero. *meaning no planning at all lor! Don’t know where to stay, don’t know where to go, don’t know what to pack, don’t know how to get around. Basically, don’t know anything. The only plan we had confirmed is what food we are going to stuff our face with when we arrive at Hanoi!

We were checking out our Lonely Planet guide and came across an interesting restaurant called the KOTO Restaurant. It’s located at Pho Wan Mieu on Dong Da District, Hanoi (next to Temple of Literature).

KOTO

KOTO stands for Know One Teach One. What’s so special about this restaurant is that it is a not-for-profit restaurant and vocational training program which takes in street children in Vietnam. Youths are trained in the area of service and hospitality. It is supported by Street Voices (a team of volunteer from Australia) who works together in the project leaded by an Australian Vietnamese man, Mr. Jimmy Pham.

KOTO started out as a sandwich shop in Hanoi to now a full-fledged restaurant run by those kids, with internationally accredited hospitality program.

KOTO2

They do accept donations although it is not a must. So if anyone who reads this happens to be planning a trip to Hanoi, why not drop by for a meal to show your support? I will be swinging by that restaurant if time permits. *i wonder how much is a meal there… hopefully not to expensive :S

CLICK HERE to read all about it…. *read read. Don’t be so ignorant!!!
