I’m not a saint. I admit that this event caught my eyes coz of the awesome cool Terry Fox Run 2007 T-shirt! *i saw it in a blog a while ago and i liked it alot ma… But the Terry Fox Run itself is way cool too because it’s to raise money for world wide cancer research.
Why the name Terry Fox? Well, it all began with an 18 year old boy named Terry Fox who was diagnosed with bone cancer back in 1977. After spending sometime in the hospital, he was so overcome by the suffering of other cancer patients that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research despite already loosed one leg to cancer. Unfortunately, Terry did not finish the run due to cancer in his lungs. He passed away on June 28, 1981 at age 22. *may he rest in peace. That’s where the Terry Fox Run legacy started.
Malaysia is doing their part in the money raising by holding the run on this 4th November at Lake Gardens KL. Apparently this is not the first time that a Terry Fox Run is held in Malaysia. *sigh…i’m so ignorant. Every year, money raised from the Terry Fox Run in Malaysia is donated to a cancer research organization in Malaysia. This year, money raised in the Terry Fox Run 2007 will be donated to Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation, a non-profit cancer research organization.
The run is a family affair i heard. Not a competition. It’s the cause that counts not winning or losing the race.
Do check this event out coz i think it is definitely a cause worth our full support. Plus the T-shirt looks real good, so you could get a pair or two even though you’re not into leg exercise *wakaka. It cost RM25.00 each (or more for charity) and comes with 9 different sizes. *holy cow! i want one!!!
