Century Old Snapper

The Alligator Snapping Turtle.
Looks like Godzilla from Godzilla.
Or some creature from the Dino years.
Swimming in slow motion.
Then made a dramatic landing like the man on the moon.
Applause, applause, applause.

I’m having brain freeze.
A condition i picked up recently.
Can’t think straight.
Can’t make longer sentence than these.
Falling asleep.

Safe Driving and Equipment

Posted by slowcatchupkuan On September - 3 - 2010 0 Comment

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Here is some useful information about safe driving and equipment for disabled people.

It doesn’t hurt to learn more about it because when i mentioned disabled people it also includes elderly people with difficulty to walk hence in need of wheelchairs or even wheelchair vehicles. The truth is it’s better to be well informed and well prepared.

Purchasing a good vehicle for disabled person is not easy and could be possibly daunting. We need to take into account of the built, the functions, consider whether it’s easy to use and of course ensure that the wheelchair are of good quality and is certified safe to use.

Many people make the mistake of purchasing the wrong handicapped vehicle sold on the Internet or through catalogs that not necessarily suits their conditions. Everyone is unique in their needs so choosing the wrong vehicle could be dangerous on the road.

That’s where NMEDA comes in. It is a non-profit organization that promotes safe driving and educates people on the importance of buying qualified equipment for disabled people. NMEDA dealers (members) help by offering personalized evaluation to ensure that the most suitable driving solution could be customized to your needs. They also offer training and product refinements for a better fit.

Also a member of the NMEDA is the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) dealer which is a nationally recognized program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. What they do is to imply a systematic and documented approach to quality. In short, they are like a quality control unit making sure the equipments are top notch and satisfy customers.

With NMEDA the elderly or disabled could gained back their independence. They could travel on the road like everyone else. So, go to nmeda.org, click on the dealer’s locator and enter your ZIP code to find a qualified dealer near you.

Underwater Monsters

Posted by slowcatchupkuan On September - 2 - 2010 0 Comment

It’s been so long since we had a short family trip, i can’t even remember when the last time we went out was. Honestly, i’m just too lazy and beaten to organize one.

Why am i always the one to organize anyway??! So not fair!

It so happen that Teddy suggested we go to Klang for bak kut teh during the weekend then to stop by the Xian Leng Aquatic Shah Alam to look at the fishes available there.

Dad and him loves fishes.

Errr… i’m no fan of fishes; i’m terrified of them but never mind, as long as i’m not the organizer LOL.

We reached Shah Alam Wet World around late noon; it was blazing hot.

The Akuarium is just next to the Wet World. Why they have to put a big sign with the name “Akuarium” i also don’t know. It’s not like people don’t know what’s the building is for. You can practically smell it from the parking lot.

Why didn’t they just hang the company’s name “Xian Leng Aquatic Centre” instead of “Akuarium” i also don’t know. I didn’t know the name of the company before i came back and googled for it afterwards.

Anyways, the centre is really big. They have a wide variety of fishes for sale and for display. The place is clean enough too.

There’s just too many that i paiseh go around flashing my camera at each aquarium. I snapped a few photos here and there just for keeping.

I was really impressed because some of the fishes here i haven’t seen before.

There were the normal pretty ones we always see in the pet stores. Like this one.

And gold fishes of course.

My favorite, pretty red crabs.

There were lots of Arowana for sale too.

Quite a lot of them were already sold. Personally i don’t know what’s so special about Arowana fish but uncles like them a lot huh? Even my dad was staring at them for hours.

Here’s one on display and i quote dad “Very beautiful because the skin has a very striking color and it has shiny scale”.

I don’t know lar. I think it’s just like any other fish. I wonder what it tastes like haha!

Then there these fighting fishes in individual jars which obviously had sat on the shelves for months collecting dust without being sold. Sad.

Ok enough about the common fishes. Very boring no?

Let’s see the ugly ones; those that made me have goosebumps.

The sting rays were feeding on worms! They hover above the worms because the mouth is at the bottom, like it’s sucking the worms up. But the worms kept wriggling and getting away.

So gross!

Erm… fugly eels. Felt like i’m watching Discovery Channel :S.

On the wing of the building are big pools filled with Koi fishes.

I hate Koi fishes. No offense they make my hair stand…

By the way the Koi fishes are for sale. Just pick the ones you want and the staff will catch it for you.

And the further end of the wing is a sole pool that is not inhabited by Koi fishes. Instead there swimming or should i say hovering in the pool are gigantic fishes with length almost the human’s height!

The Arapaima fish!!  South American tropical fresh water fish, one of the largest freshwater fish in the world. It could grow the more than 8 feet! Wow!

Damn scary you know standing at the platform looking down at them hovering (they barely move really) near us.

I was told they feed on fish, crustaceans, and other small animals. I wonder what will happen if i accidental dropped into the pool… yikes!

On another side of the building is the most interesting part of the visit; a walkway showroom of exotic fishes.

There were piranhas… ok ok they are not exactly piranhas, these are much bigger in size but according to the label they come from the same family.

The resemblance is startling don’t you think?

Focus on greenish fish in the aquarium.

Huge! I forgot most of the names of the monsters here at the showroom but these are so beautiful. The skin are like emeralds.

Too bad they are flesh eating creatures.

Sis found her soul mate LOL!

I think it’s called the alligator fish or something. Why? Isn’t it obvious?

I don’t know what are these but they looked like angelic sharks!

Soft shell turtle doing stunt.

Ugly looking monsters.

Dad having a blast.

And here is the King of the Monsters!

He (he sure don’t looked like a she) looked like he’s a century old, standing on the rocks. Almost blended into the background.

We stared at it so long waiting it to move when finally it swam up in slow motion we clapped and cheered like a bunch of school kids haha.

Payday Advance

Posted by slowcatchupkuan On September - 2 - 2010 0 Comment

Right now on the verge of being bald. Why? Because i’m doing my financial budget and i’m really in a tight spot; i’m practically going bald from constantly pulling of my hair out of frustration!

End of the year is the time when i’m really broke. With the festive seasons coming and the many weddings i’m invited to (which means i’ll have to spend a lot more buying wedding gifts or giving red packets) and now added to the burden is we are planning to get a house. Our monthly salary is really not enough.

A friend told me that i should consider taking a payday loan. It’s a short-term loan or advance cash so to speak just so i could manage within these couple of months. I must admit that it would be nice to have more cash to spend before the next payday.

It’s fairly easy and without hassle too. All I need to do is to apply online then go through very minimal verification and i’ll have an approved payday loan in my hands. Plus i don’t have to wait too long for the cash to be debited into my account.

What i find most tempting is that bad credit history doesn’t come in the way of getting the payday loan approved. It’s like loans for bad credit. Because it’s a short-term loan, even if your repayment history isn’t perfect, it doesn’t guarantee a rejection.

Not a bad deal i should say.

Remember Michael Jordan? How about Air Jordan?

Of course you do! After all, he is hailed as the greatest basketball player of all time. Who could forget his famous and utterly fantastic slam dunks?

A decade after his retirement, his name still remains an inspiration in the basketball league. And even after a decade, Michael Jordan Shoes or more known as Air Jordan Shoes are still selling like hot cakes in the market.

Online merchant such as cankicks.com is practically an Air Jordan Shoes paradise. They offer the newest exclusive collection of Air Jordans which customers could purchase at a discounted price. What’s more tempting is here, they carry many different ranges of the shoes such as Air Jordan Fusion, Air Jordan Hybrid, Air Jordan Spizikes, Air Max 90 and many, many more. There is even the Air Jordan Heels for females which comes in the most girly of colors. Fans are spoilt for choices!

The Air Force 1 range comes in a range of custom and unreleased colors which would definitely satisfy all the collectors out there. The price is reasonably low; it’s a deal not to be missed.

Michael Jordan fans out there would lap this up in an instant!

Happy 53rd Merdeka to All Malaysians

Posted by slowcatchupkuan On August - 31 - 2010 0 Comment

Looks like Namewee is at it again. Launched himself into a whole lot of trouble yet again.

This is a lash back to the recent racial slur by a headmistress of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Selambau, Kedah.

I am surprised that there are still such backwards thinking people in Malaysia and especially surprised that these racial comments are uttered from the mouth of educationists; headmistresses at that – this case and another one concerning another headmistress from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra in Johor.

Are we still second class citizen in this country or what? Sigh… It’s racist like this that is pushing Malaysians away from the country to work abroad.

But let’s not fuel the situation any further. We all know that not all people think like that. The fact is we all have good friends from all different races and we get along just fine. So i say just ignore those hypocrites.

So, Happy Merdeka everyone.
